Jennings borders St. Louis

Jennings is a St. Louis suburb that offers much of what an average homebuyer might shop for. “It’s close to Interstate 70. There’s lots of shopping. It’s easily commutable. It has lots of bus lines and it’s a pretty diverse area,” says Rebecca Harrington, a Realtor with RE/MAX Results and a longtime resident of North St. Louis County where Jennings is located. Nevertheless, with parts of Jennings bearing more resemblance to the City of St. Louis, its urban neighbor next door, it’s easy to understand how non-Jennings residents could view here much differently. “Not everybody keeps their houses up the same. There are smaller homes. Parts of Jennings border the city and might be a little more urban,” Harrington says, adding, “It’s a nice place to be, people are great.”

Mid-Twentieth century homes in Jennings

Jennings’ population boomed after World War II. Consequently, today the town is full of ‘40s and ‘50s home styles such asTudors and minimal traditional homes. A basic move-in ready home can be picked up for $70,000 and a smattering of homes in the low to mid-$100,000s are available too. “Jennings has multi-family homes. It has historic homes. Whatever you want, you could probably find it in Jennings,” Harrington says.

Off West Florissant Avenue is a shopping center with both Aldi and Schnucks, so locals can do all their shopping in one trip.

Koeneman Park on the north side of Jennings has a lake, baseball field and softball field with trees on three sides giving it a secluded feel. While the park projects tranquility during the day, every other Friday summer night it’s a different story as the air fills with music of the city’s summer concert series.
