In the Historic District, some of these homes may also feature Georgian, Gothic Revival and Queen Anne styles. Each single-family home features a paved driveway and backyards big enough for a personal garden and shed; these properties hold a median list price of $165,000. This price is much cheaper than on the other side of the river. “For Joliet proper, you pay somewhere around the $260,000 to $270,000 mark; there are some that are in the $300,000s; it depends. The location is a major factor,” Scheuber says.A walk in the park
Along Hickory Creek, bikers, walkers and cross-country skiers find their sanctuary. There are over 35 miles of combined trails for them to travel, including part of the Old Plank Road Trail, which is a 22-mile-long paved path managed by Will County and neighboring communities. Locals can also book picnic shelters within the Hickory Creek Forest Preserve for special occasions like family reunions. At Crombie Park, kids can race one another down the slides or practice their soccer ball passes in the flat field behind the playground. Across the river at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park, boulders inscribed with the town’s history, line the walking and bike paths.Student life in Joliet
