Grab a slice of pizza at Martini's
Unique, individually owned restaurants define Vine's dining scene. "I'm a huge fan of O'Duffy's and Cosmos, which are two restaurants in one location. One is a pub, and the other offers a fine dining experience. I am also a daily patron of Martini's, known for its pizza and eclectic dishes," Walsh says. In addition to these eateries, residents can shop for groceries at Midtown Fresh, just outside the neighborhood, or Aldi for larger grocery needs. Local shopping includes Satellite Records, Fourth Coast Café, a coffee shop, and a nonprofit store run by neighborhood kids. Vine is also about 1.5 miles from North Kalamazoo Mall for more shopping options.

"We have events in the park where all our community partners come together. It is not just about concerts but about creating a space for everyone to share their passions," Walsh says. For example, the neighborhood hosts the annual Love the Vine Neighborhood Clean-Up and Celebration on Earth Day, where residents gather to clean Davis Street Park, followed by live music and food. The historic State Theatre, dating back to 1927, has hosted a wide range of popular events, including operas, dramas, big bands, ballet, dance reviews, stage shows, and movies. The New Vic Theatre is known for its variety of plays and musicals.

Skating is brings the community together at Davis Streetscape Park
At Dutton Street Park, kids play on playgrounds surrounded by benches and flower beds. Davis Streetscape Park has a community-driven skatepark. "The skateboarders take pride in maintaining the park and ensuring it's a welcoming space for all," says Walsh.

Ride the Kalamazoo Metro around the city
Vine's proximity to downtown, Western Michigan University, and major transport routes makes it ideal for walking or biking. "It's perfect for people who want to walk or bike, thanks to its proximity to downtown and the university," The neighborhood is about a mile from Bronson Methodist Hospital, adding to its convenience. The Kalamazoo Metro public bus system provides easy transportation around the neighborhood and the rest of the city.
