Near downtown neighborhood with Hispanic culture
Kensington is a downtown Kansas City suburb that was once formerly farmland. The neighborhood is rooted in Hispanic culture based on migration to the area in 1900s for nearby jobs in meat-packing plants, railroads and farming. "There's a huge Spanish demographic,” Isom James, a Realtor with Platinum Realty, says. “You can't miss it. You just drive down State Avenue, and you'll see a ton of it. The neighborhood's very affordable, especially given its proximity to downtown."

Another prevalent home style is the Kanas City Shirtwaist – a mix of American Foursquare and Craftsman styles and have multiple levels, a front porch and a gabled roof.
