Eastwood Hills West

Whether you’re a local sports fan or need a quick commute to Kansas City’s core, Eastwood Hills West is near every popular Kansas City destination. But don’t let the neighborhood’s convenient location fool you; it still maintains a quiet atmosphere. “It’s right next to Kauffman and Arrowhead, but there aren’t any direct routes through the neighborhood,” says Marline Brown, a Realtor with Murrell Homes. “So, the residential streets don’t get much traffic on gamedays.”

Prospective homebuyers will also find a variety of well-maintained dwellings from different decades. For instance, charming cottages from the 1920s with French-style swooping roofs and brick chimney stacks dot Sni a Bar Road. “The cottages are super cute,” says Brown. “They’re the area's hidden gems, and they always sell the quickest.” You’ll also notice 1950s split levels and ranch styles with sprawling or modest layouts. No matter the style, homes in Eastwood Hills West typically have three to four bedrooms, and they cost between $150,000 and $300,000, a range similar to a Kansas City home’s average $250,000 selling price.

Children in the neighborhood can attend Eastwood Hills Elementary, where students who struggle with math and science can receive extra help, thanks to the supplemental teachers. Then, they can go to Raytown Middle, which celebrates students on the honor roll with an end-of-the-year field trip to Main Event, an entertainment center with arcade games and laser tag. Lastly, at Raytown High, students choose a career cluster during their freshman year and take classes focused on that subject. Pathways include health services, agriculture, arts and engineering.

While namesake Eastwood Park features 4 acres of wide-open green space, nearby Blue Banks Park provides the neighborhood with ample outdoor activity. The green space offers access to the 4-mile Brush Creek Trail. As you wander the paved path, you’ll pass the picturesque creek, a whimsical waterfall and bright pink dogwood trees. It also leads to the Country Club Plaza area, where you can shop 15 blocks of commercial options or view over 40,000 art pieces at The Nelson-Atkins Museum. About 3 miles south of Eastwood Hills West is 1,805-acre Swope Park, the largest recreational hub in the city. Immerse yourself in the lives of over 1,700 animals at the Kansas City Zoo, learn about Missouri wildlife at the Lakeside Nature Center or let your dog run wild at the off-leash park.

Besides the plaza and Swope Park, you’re also 3 miles from Arrowhead Stadium, home to the Superbowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs. Next door is Kauffman Stadium, where you can watch the Royals play against other MLB teams. A 9-mile drive down nearby U.S. Highway 71 takes you to downtown Kansas City, where you can visit even more entertainment districts, like Westport or Power & Light.

However, the neighborhood’s location along Blue Parkway means you may not even have to go that far for shopping and eating options. Stop by L.C.’s for classic Kansas City barbecue. The pork burnt ends smothered in the signature sauce with a side of crispy French fries is a meal especially loved by locals. Peachtree Cafeteria is another neighborhood go-to. Devour soul food staples like crispy fried chicken, creamy macaroni and cheese and sweet peach cobbler. A Sun Fresh grocery store is also located on the thoroughfare if you would rather make a meal at home.

With delightful dwellings surrounded by quiet conveniences, Eastwood Hills West has everything you need.
