Winding streets showcase a mix of home styles in Park Forest, including Neotraditional, colonials, bilevels and raised ranches. These houses line broad roads with trees, green lawns and sidewalks. Park Forest enjoys easy access to Kansas 9, Interstate 29, and Interstate 29. “There’s lots of development happening in the area, like the airport just opened in 2023 which is a big deal,” Van Horn says. It is 11 miles from North Kansas City Hospital and positioned about 7 miles south of Kansas City International Airport; residents can easily travel within and beyond. Several RideKC bus stops are available on NW Prairie View Road for public transit users.
Park Forest is just 2 miles from the Shops at Boardwalk, which includes restaurants, Walmart Supercenter, and north of Tiffany Springs Market Center, offering dozens of big-box shopping. The exact distance is Zona Rosa Town Center, an open-air walkable district with art galleries, small boutiques, and lots of bites to eat. The center is the site of The Rink at Zona Rosa, where locals come out for various themed ice-skating festivities. For grub, Smokehouse Barbecue is platting up smoky, baby back rips accompanied by hearty sides, and Bo Lings is the spot for authentic Chinese cuisine. Close to home is BBQ & Kebab, for Mediterranean delicacies.
Park Forest Park is a small clearing with a playground, picnic tables and provides ample space for dogs to roam freely. To the south, the North Congress Greenway and playground offer trails with creek views. Heading north, Barry Road Park has a covered picnic area and numerous tennis courts. Nearby Woodson Hill Equestrian Center awaits for horseback riding lessons. And movie nights are a breeze at AMC Barrywoods 24 on Roanridge Road and the Platte County Community Center is 3 miles south.
