Santa Fe
Home styles and prices draw investors and renovators
Santa Fe features many two-story American Foursquares and Craftsman-style homes with large covered front porches, driveways and detached garages in the back. Tree-lined streets have sidewalks on both sides and grass medians between sidewalks and streets.“The location is amazing. It's a great investment. A completely renovated house that you’d buy here for $240,000 would cost you around $425,000 in Johnson County [Kansas],” Robert Brown, a Realtor with Platinum Realty, says.Prices range from the $70,000s for a small fixer-upper to the upper $300,000s for two-story homes with up to five bedrooms. Many homes are 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. A completely renovated single-family home originally built in the early 1900s can be found for $200,000 or less.Santa Fe's location one mile from Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 71 simplifies car travel

Santa Fe’s overall CAP Index crime score is 7, compared to the U.S. average of 4. However, the neighborhood scores higher than 7 in violent crimes. Residents work with the Kansas City Police Department, whose East Patrol Division Station is located right in the neighborhood at Prospect and E. 27th Street. In addition, trained resident volunteers serve as additional eyes and ears for the police department through the neighborhood’s Citizens on Patrol Program. There is an increased chance for flooding along E. 32nd Street near KCFD Station #18, whose presence makes that part of the neighborhood a little noisier because of the fire engines and sirens.
