About 20 miles from the hustle and bustle of Miami, Kendale Lakes is a suburban enclave filled with winding residential streets and green space. The suburb sits in the center of Miami-Dade County, right next to Florida’s Turnpike, one of the main thoroughfares for the state, giving residents easy access to Miami and its many suburbs. The community’s proximity to the Everglades gives it a quiet, tucked-away feel that’s becoming more and more difficult to find in South Florida. “It’s near everything, yet it’s really secluded,” says Martin Rodriguez, a real estate agent with Homeside Realty who sells throughout the Miami area. “Kids can play in the street, and the schools are really good.”

Shopping, dining and entertainment along North Kendale Drive
Rodriguez says that a major perk of living in Kendale Lakes is avoiding Miami for a night out. “You don’t have to go into the city to find things to do; there are all kinds of restaurants, bars and a movie theater right there,” he says. Most of those things to do are located near North Kendale Drive and Florida’s Turnpike, where large shopping centers hold major retailers and restaurants, and Regal Kendall Village, where residents catch the latest blockbuster. North Kendale Drive also offers grocery stores and other retailers where residents pick up essentials. For those who want to brave the traffic, Miami’s bustling nightlife scene is about 20 miles away. Just outside the community is HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, and a few medical centers are located near North Kendall Drive and Florida’s Turnpike.
