Wilson
Neighborhood in Kenosha, Wisconsin
Kenosha County 53140, 53144
Homes were built in the heyday of a Kenosha automotive engine facility
While there are some newer homes, most of the housing in the neighborhood is from the 1940s to the ‘60s when Kenosha was growing due to the Kenosha Engine plant, which closed in 2010. Some new homes have also been built. “The original homes were on double lots, and some parcels have been divided,” Franklin says. “As the older generation passes, the younger generation is dividing the parcels and selling that so affordable homes can be built.” In addition, new homes have been built on vacant land. “The Brookstone subdivision has newer homes that can be bought or rented out,” says Tony Bitar, Realtor with Tony Bitar Real Estate Solutions. The single-family home price ranges from $135,000 to $480,000. Ranch style is the most prominent design, with a few Cape Cods.Kenosha Sports Complex
During baseball season, Little League teams play at the 19-acre Kenosha Sports Complex, which has six baseball diamonds and a small playground. Hobbs Park has several paved walking trails, a playground with a colorful slide and climbing equipment and a picnic shelter. Across the street is Limpert Park, which has a full basketball court and a large open space. “There are a lot of kids in the neighborhood and there are after-school programs and activities at the Kenosha YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club,” Bitar says. The ‘Y’ is a short drive while the Boys & Girls Club is just to the east.Elementary school students go out of the Wilson neighborhood for class
