Residents can join the Civic Association for an annual fee of $30 and receive benefits like neighborhood grounds maintenance and involvement in the community’s popular annual events. “The Kings Park Civic Association organizes events like Oktoberfest, Cleanup Day and the Fourth of July parade,” says Metcalf, who also serves on the Civic Association Board. “There’s also a Trunk or Treat event for Halloween and an Ice Cream Day.” Most events are held in Kings Park Park, from Movies in the Park to the Fourth of July Parade.

Kings Park Shopping Center is a strip mall with a Giant for groceries and restaurants like Giardino Italian Restaurant, which serves salmon and parmigiana entrees with beer and wine. Springfield Town Center is a popular mall seven miles away, anchored by Macy’s and JCPenney. The nearby community of Annandale is often nicknamed “Little Korea” for the prevalence of Korean-owned businesses, from Bonchon for Korean-style fried chicken, Kogiya for Korean barbecue and Lighthouse Tofu for noodle dishes.

Fairfax County Public Schools is the main district serving Kings Park. Students can attend Kings Park Elementary, with a B-rating from Niche, while Kings Glen Elementary gets an A-minus and Lake Braddock Secondary School gets an A-plus. Lake Braddock is one of Virginia’s largest secondary schools, teaching over 4,400 students as of the 2024-2025 academic year.
