What it’s like living in Corinth

Corinth is a popular choice for those looking to live on the outskirts of Knoxville without being too far from everyday amenities. The area offers a mix of rural and suburban living, where major interstates and shopping centers are just as accessible as large plots of farmland. The neighborhood is known for its many public parks, so getting active outside is a significant part of everyday life here. Though developers have begun building new subdivisions throughout the area, it still maintains a private, secluded feel away from the big attractions in the heart of the Marble City.

Corinth’s housing market — types and prices

Buyers can choose from a variety of single-family homes built between the 1950s and the 2020s. You’ll find Cape Cods, Colonial Revivals and ranch-style houses, as well as contemporary New Traditional homes. Newer houses often sit in subdivisions with uniform lots and freshly paved streets and sidewalks. Properties typically have ample space to spread out, with many lots starting at about a quarter of an acre. Prices start just under $200,000 for an older home, with new builds reaching the upper $800,000s.

Transportation and commuting options to downtown Knoxville

Washington Pike and Interstate 640 are the main roads connecting Corinth to the rest of the county. Many people work downtown and at the University of Tennessee, both within about 10 miles, or at the new Amazon distribution center, just across Washington Pike. Though people tend to work outside the area, commutes aren’t typically a hassle. “Knoxville isn’t as bad traffic-wise compared to larger cities,” says Jennifer Mayes, the assistant of Team Lead Laura Bailey with Bailey Real Estate Group, which is based in Knox County. “You may be miles farther out of town, but it doesn’t take nearly as long to get downtown as it would in other cities.”

Public schools serving Corinth

Corinth is part of the Knox County Schools district. Students can choose schools outside of their zone through the open enrollment program. Choices include magnet schools, such as L&N STEM Academy, a top-rated option located downtown, about 8 miles away.

Shopping centers and restaurants near Corinth

Even though you feel relatively secluded from city life in Corinth, stores and restaurants are still close by. “You’re no more than 20 to 25 minutes from anything and everything you need,” Mayes says. The Harvest Park Centre on Washington Pike has a Target, Marshalls and Ulta Beauty. You’re also minutes from big-box options on Millerton Pike, such as Lowe’s Home Improvement, Walmart Supercenter and Food City. The area has a handful of fast-food spots, as well as some mom-and-pop businesses. Corinth is home to The Diner at Twisters, known for fresh breakfasts and ice cream sundaes.
