Outdoor enthusiasts might launch their kayaks from Riverside Landing Park and dock at Ijams Nature Center, where they can spend the day exploring the area’s wetlands and biking along 10 miles of trails. The parking fee at Ijams Nature Center is $5, but visitors can hike, swim and visit the animal center and on-site art gallery all free of charge. Navitat Adventure Park, located within the center, requires a ticket and features a zipline, ropes course, and more. Ringed by thick groves of maple trees and cottonwoods, Mead’s Quarry Lake is a public-access swimming spot. Even more outdoor recreation can be found at Forks of the River Wildlife Management Area, a sprawling nature preserve and public park that extends more than 50 miles and features an intricate trail system.Dual-enrollment program at South Doyle High School
Young learners in this area can attend New Hopewell Elementary or Moreland Heights Elementary School, which are rated B and B-minus, respectively. South Doyle Middle School is another B-rated institution, and South Doyle High School is a C-plus-rated secondary school. For whimsy and magic, residents can immerse themselves in the fantastical world of Ancient Lore Village, a resort and event venue that visitors can stay at or rent out for special celebrations and private gatherings. Ancient Lore Village offers guests themed overnight lodging and a number of thrilling activities, including archery and axe throwing. This boutique resort also features weekly events like karaoke on Tuesdays, Wednesday night trivia, Dungeons and Dragons tournaments on Thursdays and Sunday brunches.Highway 441 connects to Downtown Knoxville
Using U.S. Highway 441, commuters are a short drive away from Downtown Knoxville – depending on location in Grandview-Whites Village, Downtown can be anywhere between a 4.5 to a 10-mile drive away. Because of its sprawling suburban setting, this neighborhood is considered to be car-dependent, although there are some well-maintained sidewalks in residential areas. The McGhee Tyson Airport is a less than 12-mile drive south of the neighborhood via U.S. Route 129. Public transportation is provided by Knoxville Area Transit (KAT), which operates bus services throughout the neighborhood and features a number of bus stops along Chapman Highway.
