Community in the Bayou swamplands

Kraemer is located along Highway 307 near the swamplands of Louisiana, a small community about 15 miles from Thibodaux. The neighborhood consists of a handful of streets branching off the highway and many open areas. “This is where you go if you’re into nature walks or just want to live around a swampy and bayou area,” says Robin Harris, a Realtor with CHT Group Real Estate. Kraemer residents enjoy the deep-country feel, away from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities. Like much of southern Louisiana, Kraemer is at risk for hurricanes and tropical storms, including well-known hurricanes Ida and Katrina. “Anytime you live around there, you know the potential damage that comes with it,” Harris says. “Some of the older people don’t even leave; they just buckle down and try to wait it out.”
