Longtime houses, residents and learning institutions in Miller
Just a mile south of downtown Lafayette, Miller is one of the city's more established neighborhoods, with longtime homes and residents alike. This residential area has a unique layout that breaks the typical grid pattern, with some streets twisting and bending. Here, mature trees have had time to develop along these residential streets, and so have neighborly relationships. Those relationships are fostered by longtime institutions, such as Marilynn's Childcare, which opened in 1992 at the hands of Miller resident Marilynn Hession. "I love the people here," says Hession, who has lived in the neighborhood for 32 years. "Most of the people around us are good people. I can leave the door unlocked for a short time."
