Beacon Hill
Hillside homes with great views
Homes in Beacon Hill are fairly modern — the neighborhood was developed in the '80s, '90s and early 2000s — and run the gamut in terms of size and cost. Many properties, both condos and single-family homes, offer sweeping views of Laguna Niguel and the coast. Condos and townhouses in the neighborhood go for $700,000 to a little over $1 million, while single-family homes generally sell for $1.5 million to $2 million. Most homes don't have much front or backyard space, but many have a garage and back up to trees and shrubs, which creates a little bit of privacy. Beacon Hill has a CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, well below the national average of 4.Highly rated Capistrano schools
The neighborhood is served by the highly rated Capistrano Unified School District, which has a rare A-plus grade on Niche. John Malcom Elementary School, Niguel Hills Middle School and Dana Hills High School all have A grades. Dana Hills High offers dual enrollment classes through Saddleback Community College in nearby Mission Viejo. The Chapparosa Trail connects the neighborhood to the beach
One of Beacon Hill’s biggest draws is the abundance of outdoor opportunities available within the community and its surrounding areas. The neighborhood itself features beautifully landscaped common areas, walking paths and green spaces like Beacon Hill Park. When locals want to spend some time outside, they can put on their hiking boots or hop on their mountain bikes and head to Salt Corridor Regional Park on the neighborhood's west side. The Chapparosa Trail runs through the regional park and connects with many of Laguna Niguel's most popular parks, and it goes all the way south to the world-famous coastline. The neighborhood is less than three miles from the Salt Creek Beach and Laguna Niguel Beach.Ocean Ranch Village shopping center
While Beacon Hill is entirely residential, the neighborhood is just half a mile north of Ocean Ranch Village shopping center, which is home to a range of shops and restaurants, along with multiple supermarkets and the local movie theater. When locals want to grab a bite, they don’t even have to go that far, as the neighborhood is right next to the beloved local Danish eatery Copenhagen Corner, along with the Laguna Niguel location of popular Cal-Mex spot Sancho’s Tacos. Extensive additional shopping can be found within five miles of the neighborhood in just about any direction, with options ranging from the sprawling shopping centers of north Laguna Niguel to the walkable downtowns of San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point. The Dana Point Festival of Whales
The Dana Point Certified Farmers Market is held a few miles south of Beacon Hill near Dana Point Harbor. Dana Point’s annual Festival of Whales has been held every year for over 50 years, celebrating the migrating gray whales that pass by the area every March.Easy access to Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano
The neighborhood’s central location means it’s incredibly easy to get around the area. "It's one of the most convenient neighborhoods in all of South Orange," says Ora. "The beach, downtown, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano — they're all less than ten minutes away." Golden Lantern Road and Niguel Road connect the neighborhood to the rest of Laguna Niguel. Commuters can take Interstate 5 to Irvine or Santa Ana, which are about 20 and 25 miles away, respectively.
