Encircling the waters of its namesake reservoir, Lake Clarke Shores is known for fostering an outdoor lifestyle and rich community spirit. “There are maybe 3,400 residents, and there are a lot of community events throughout the year, including a big town BBQ, so it exudes that small town feel,” says Albert Pavon, broker with Pavon Realty Group who has been selling homes in Florida for more than 15 years. “It’s a true boating community, and there are five parks in Lake Clarke Shores, so the people who live there stay very active.”

Lakeside overlooks, kayak launches and scenic walking trails
Boating, fishing and kayaking are popular pastimes among Lake Clarke Shores residents. The lake is teeming with big fish like largemouth bass and common snook. It connects directly to the Intracoastal Waterway, so locals can spend an entire day exploring. Boat Ramp Park gives residents a place to take off on those excursions, with a 40-foot-long dock and a kayak launch. Two of Lake Clarke Shores’ five parks straddle Pine Tree Lane. On the western side, Memorial Park has a peaceful lakeside overlook and cascading water fountain. A paved pathway runs through the community green space and is frequented by locals looking to stretch their legs or go for a short bike ride. Bordering the other side of the thoroughfare is Pine Tree Park, which features a walking trail dotted with five exercise stations. Multiple playgrounds for different ages attract kids and families to both Community Park and Town Hill Park. Both are action packed with walking trails and athletic courts. Town Hill Park also has a small misting station and shaded areas to help people cool off during the hot Florida summers.

Waterfront homes with private docks
A bevy of minimal traditional, ranch homes, Greek Revivals and split levels border the shores of Lake Clarke. Renovated four- to five-bedroom homes surrounded by palm trees and spacious lawns can range from $850,000 to more than $1 million. In-ground pools with lakefront views and private docks add to their value. “Because it’s a boating community, driveways and garages are common,” Pavon says. “You’re going to see a lot of parked boats outside the homes as you drive by.” Lake Clarke Shores’ canal-laced residential streets are flat and relatively narrow, so locals will be hard-pressed to find many sidewalks. Instead, Pavon says, “A lot of people drive golf carts around the area.” The rare home not situated along the waterway is typically listed between $500,000 and $600,000. Two- to three-bedroom townhouses, priced around $375,000, provide another option for prospective buyers.

Town Hall BBQ attracts locals and visitors
Locals and visitors gather at Town Hall for an annual BBQ each spring. Residents will surely smell the aroma of pulled pork, chicken, hotdogs and fried catfish. The town’s largest and longest-standing event also features friendly competition among vintage car owners. The automobiles are parked around Town Hall, and locals can vote for their favorite yearly. Later in the year, the Holidays in Paradise Parade takes to the streets. It’s paired with the Jim and Judy Tackett Memorial Tree Lighting – named for a Lake Clarke Shores couple who were active community members.
Pizza and sushi along Forest Hill Boulevard
A small retail strip with commercial and local businesses is situated along Forest Hill Boulevard. One local mainstay is Four Brothers Italian Kitchen. Since the early 1980s, residents have been getting their pizzas, pasta and calzones from this family-owned restaurant. Pavon also recommends Sushi Jo next door. In neighboring Palm Springs, locals will find a Publix for grocery essentials. Interstate 95 runs along the town’s eastern border, putting Lake Clarke Shores within 10 miles of West Palm Beach’s shopping meccas, like Clematis Street and Tanger Outlets.
