Lake Dallas offers lakeside living about 30 miles from Dallas
Living in Lake Dallas offers the best of both worlds – a lakeside resort lifestyle combined with easy access to major shopping and dining destinations. “Some of the other surrounding cities have access to all the shopping and eating experiences,” says local real estate agent Nancy Koket with RE/MAX Cross Country. “They’re all close enough, but yet when you drive over that bridge, you’re back into the country lake setting.” With Interstate 35 and the Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge nearby, residents can be across the lake and into cities like Frisco, The Colony or Lewisville with a short drive. It’s hard to get a better mix of lakeside living and convenient commutes than the one you’ll find in Lake Dallas.
Homes range from ranch-style houses to waterfront properties
As for the homes in Lake Dallas, you’ll find a mix of styles in this small lakeside community. The city has seen a lot of development in the past two decades, and most homes here are traditional brick houses. These homes are primarily in planned subdivisions and are close together. Most streets have leafy trees providing shade from the hot Texas sun. There are some older homes towards the center of town, such as ranch-style houses. These modest houses are listed for $315,000 to $365,000 for a four-bedroom home.
Head closer to the water, and you’ll find elegant, luxurious lakeside homes featuring balconies with scenic views and backyard pools. These homes have larger lots with spacious driveways and multi-car garages. You can expect to pay upwards of $600,000 for one of these houses.
Lewisville Lake has campsites, trails and water activities
With Lewisville Lake bordering the city, residents can head to Willow Grove Park for some time on the water. The city leases this park from the US Army Corps of Engineers, and it has plenty of amenities to take advantage of. Start your lake day at the park’s boat ramp or bring your rod and enjoy a day of fishing from the shore. The park has several campsites available if you want to make it an overnight trip, and the multi-use trail takes you through the forested shoreline for a relaxing walk in nature. Head to Lake Dallas City Park for youth sports and an exciting playground that the kids will love. With several soccer fields, a basketball court and four tennis courts, there is plenty of activity at this centrally located park. The park also has a walking trail and two horseshoe pits for residents.
Students attend Lake Dallas schools
Students might attend Lake Dallas Elementary School, Lake Dallas Middle School and Lake Dallas High School. Lake Dallas Middle School is located right next to City Park and receives a B-plus overall rating from Niche, with good reviews for its teachers and academics. The school offers several clubs and activities for students, including GOAL, or Guys and Girls Operating as Leaders. This program offers free soccer leagues to students while giving them the opportunity to become leaders, give back to their community and learn about college options. While the elementary school receives a C-plus from Niche, the middle and high schools earn a B.
Local restaurants include Mrs. Lively’s Cajun Konnection
Locals enjoy dining out at Mrs. Lively’s Cajun Konnection. As the name suggests, this local eatery serves authentic comfort food in an exciting atmosphere with live music on the weekends. The restaurant is known for its catfish, but you can’t stop there. With okra, crawfish and dirty rice on the menu, you won’t go home hungry after a meal. When you want to cook at home, you can stock up on groceries at the local Aldi, Albertsons or Walmart, just across the interstate in Corinth.
