East Lake District
Skydiving, baseball games and community parks
Sidewalks lead around the Summerly development, connecting residents to the planned community's green space, playgrounds and pool. These sidewalks also lead toward dirt walking and biking paths around the lake. The nearby Summerly Community Park has a large skate park and ballfields. Beside the park is the Lake Elsinore Diamond Stadium, home to The Lake Elsinore Storm, a single-A minor league baseball team. In addition to baseball games, the stadium hosts carnivals and concerts. “They are having a lot more activities to attract people,” Robles says. “There’s a mariachi fest around Mexican Independence Day, mud runs, motocross races and artists that we usually have to drive to LA to see.”Skylark Airport is in the eastern part of the neighborhood, where Skydive Elsinore has been operating since the late 1950s. People can play or picnic beside the water at Lakepoint Park, and Serenity Park has a dog playground and another skate zone.
Mediterranean-inspired homes, as well as condos and townhouses
Along the northern edge of the East Lake District, there are a few mid-1900s condos in a 55-plus community beside the Lake Elsinore Senior Activity Center. Not many come on the market, but one recently sold for around $150,000. Other condos and townhouses tend to list from about $400,000 to $450,000. Monthly HOA fees may range between $200 and $310.Single-family homes in Summerly tend to have a unified appearance — Mediterranean-inspired architecture with neutral, stucco siding and front-entry garages. Landscaping includes a mix of ornamental rocks, palms and sun-loving plants. Prices generally fall between $400,000 and $800,000, and homeowners pay an additional monthly HOA fee of about $125.Open mic nights at La Taza and city events, including pet parades
In addition to the stadium’s full calendar of events, the city also plans regular gatherings and holiday festivities. In the past, these have included a color run, pet parades and the annual Easter candy exchange. In downtown Lake Elsinore, the La Taza Community Coffeehouse regularly hosts story times and open mic nights.Quick trip for groceries and a few miles to Costco and outlets
Just across from Diamond Stadium is the Lake Elsinore Town Center, a small shopping plaza with Stater Bros. Markets and Annie’s Café. Downtown Lake Elsinore — about 3 miles from the community — is the city’s main dining destination. “It’s got a really good vibe on weekends,” Robles says. “There are older restaurants that have been revamped, as well as some newer ones.” Diners can pick up a birria taco from Michi Tacos or sit down to a traditional Mexican meal at Guadalajara Mexican Food & Cantina.Big-box stores, including Costco and Home Depot, are in North Elsinore, about 5 miles away, and the Outlets at Lake Elsinore are around 6 miles from East Lake District.Inland Empire car travel and Riverside Transit buses
Many residents rely on cars for travel, and nearby I-15 takes commuters toward cities throughout the Inland Empire. “Lots of people work in Riverside, Corona or Ontario,” Robles says. Corona is around 25 miles northwest, Riverside is approximately 35 miles away, and Ontario is closer to 40. Riverside Transit buses circle through the neighborhood, stopping at the senior center, the outlets and other city hotspots. Both the Ontario International Airport and the San Bernardino International Airport are within a 45-mile drive, and 24-hour emergency care is less than 8 miles away at the Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Medical Center.Dual-enrollment at Elsinore High, two zoned elementary schools
Students may attend schools within the Lake Elsinore Unified School District, which earns a B on Niche. In the southeastern part of the community, which includes Summerly, students start at William Collier Elementary, rated a B-minus, and Brown Middle School, rated a C-plus. Kids who live in the northwestern portion can go to Railroad Canyon Elementary School, which earns a C-plus, followed by the B-minus-rated Elsinore Middle School. Elsinore High School serves the entire area, and it receives a B-minus Niche rating. The high school offers dual-enrollment courses through nearby Mt. San Jacinto College.Inland Empire climate and environmental considerations
The Inland Empire and much of California face the threat of wildfires, particularly during the hot, dry summer months. Some parts of the community are also prone to flooding. High phosphorus levels in Lake Elsinore have also impacted the lake, leading to algae growth. The city is working to clean the lake by adding nanobubble barges, which are designed to increase oxygen levels in the water.
