Everything from manufactured homes to solar-paneled new construction
The Lake View District has housing to fit a range of budgets. At the lower end are manufactured homes in the 55-plus Huntsman Mobile Home Park, where listings generally run between $65,000 and $135,000, plus an additional monthly site fee of around $850. Other manufactured homes in the community tend to sell between $270,000 and $450,000, and these do not have HOA dues or site fees. Condos are often priced from $270,000 to $370,000.Compact bungalows and ranch-style homes built between 1920 and 1990 rest along some of the flatter streets near the lake. These may range from about $350,000 to $650,000. Between $650,000 and $950,000, buyers may find Spanish-style residences in post-2000 developments, some cradled in the steep outlying canyons and others just a few streets from the lake. The newest designs often boast solar roof panels and two-car garages equipped with EV charging stations.Water recreation and grassy city parks
With Lake Elsinore and the boat ramps at Launch Pointe Recreation Destination & RV Park nearby, water-based recreation is an integral part of life in the Lake View District. People can spend their free time wakeboarding, paddleboarding or bass fishing. The city offers swimming lessons at the Lakeside High School pool in the summer. Grassy parks throughout the area provide other opportunities to enjoy the California sunshine. Summerlake Park and Machado Park both serve double duty as city parks and school playgrounds — they each have sports courts and picnic areas. The 26-acre McVicker Canyon Park offers ballfields and a large skate park. Some people hop in their cars to explore the rest of Southern California. "You can also take Ortega Highway over to the beach in less than an hour," Metcalf says. "Or you can bop over to wine country in Temecula."Four elementary schools, career-prep programs for high schoolers
Depending on where they live in the neighborhood, students may attend one of four different elementary schools. Some children in the northwestern section start at Rice Canyon Elementary School, rated a B-plus on Niche. Alberhill Elementary School earns a B-minus; Withrow Elementary School and Machado Elementary School receive a C-plus and C, respectively. Terra Cotta Middle School gets a C-plus rating and Lakeside High School earns a B. Lakeside High offers career and technical education classes in construction, culinary arts and sports medicine.Live at the Lakefront, movie nights and other city events
During the summer months, the city hosts Live at the Lakefront, a free concert series at Launch Pointe. Outdoor movie nights are sometimes held in Machado Park, and a variety of other events take place around Lake Elsinore. Winterfest is one of the largest celebrations, with a parade down Main Street, a craft market and games for kids. Fourth of July is also popular, beginning with a children’s bike parade through Summerly Park, and capped off with a fireworks display over the lake.Travel within Lake Elsinore and beyond
The community is mostly car-dependent, although Riverside Transit buses make stops along some of the main thoroughfares. The city is also working to improve bike and pedestrian access, in addition to widening several roads to better accommodate RVs. Proximity to state Route 74 and Interstate 15 enables some residents to commute to cities around Southern California. Los Angeles is about 70 miles west and San Diego is less than 80 miles south. Ontario International Airport rests 35 miles north, and the Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital, 11 miles southeast, provides nearby emergency care.Finding groceries and dining out near the Lake View District
When it comes to grocery shopping or dining out, residents have a few options within a short drive. Albertsons and Stater Bros. Markets are both along Lakeshore Drive. El Comal Cocina y Cantina, on Riverside Drive, specializes in Salvadoran and Mexican cuisine. At Bobber on the Lake, in the Launch Pointe Recreation Destination & RV Park, diners can enjoy burgers, ribs and cocktails from the palm-lined lakeside patio. Downtown Lake Elsinore is where most of the city’s best-loved restaurants are, though some may be built closer to Lake View in the near future. “A lot of restaurant owners are looking into the area because of all the new developments,” Metcalf says.Important to Know
The city faces a high risk of wildfires, and residents are asked to ensure that their yards are free of flammable brush and other hazards. Summer and fall tend to be the hottest, driest seasons and the fire risk is generally lower during the rest of the year. High summer temperatures can also lead to poor air quality throughout the Inland Empire.Lake Elsinore is prone to algae blooms. The city regularly monitors the water quality and has taken steps to limit algae growth, including periodically treating the water with algaecide and adding floating nanobubble barges.
