Lake Grove

High price tags and eclectic architecture
Houses here tend to have higher price tags compared to nearby neighborhoods like Mountain Park, Lake Forest and Palisades, with an average home price of $1.2 million, which is around $700,000 higher than the average Oregon home. “The Lake Oswego area is almost like the 90210 of southwest Portland,” says Nuss. “The area draws in a lot of folks, but Lake Grove is a bit more affordable than those neighborhoods right on the lake.” While most of the area’s houses are listed for $800,000 or higher, homebuyers can snag a two-bedroom, 1,000-square-foot condo for around $450,000. “The homes here also have a lot of character,” Nuss says. “It’s not cookie cutter and every house is different.” For $2 million, folks will find four and five-bedroom, craftsman-style homes and Colonial Revivals built after 2015 with 3,500-square-feet or more.A-rated public schools
“The community draws in a lot of young families because of the highly ranked schools,” Nuss says. Kids of Lake Grove either attend Lake Grove Elementary School or Forest Hills Elementary School – which respectively receive an A-plus and an A overall grade from Niche. Students from both elementary schools move on to Lake Oswego Junior High School, the sixth-best public middle school in Oregon, with an A rating, according to Niche. Older students can attend Lake Oswego High School, which Niche names the best public high school in Oregon, with an impressive A-plus rating. High Schoolers are offered over 70 sports and club options to consider, with around 70% of the student body participating in extracurricular activities.Lakeside recreation
Driving along Lakeview Boulevard will bring folks to Lake Grove Swim Park. All students of Lake Oswego School District can enjoy the park, and those of all ages living in the former Lake Grove School District can acquire a park pass to access its lake swimming area, in-ground kids pool and picnic areas. Local nature lovers are also close to the 51-acre Iron Mountain City Park, where mountain bikers and hikers can be found along the 3 miles of wooded trails before having a picnic under the park’s shaded pavilion. Lake Oswego Hunt Club is just next door to Mountain City Park and is one of the area’s oldest equestrian facilities, founded in 1936. The club offers riding lessons, boarding services and summer camps.Grab a bite on Boones Ferry Road
Boones Ferry Road is also home to a vibrant commercial district which features the French-inspired La Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie, medical offices, a Zupan’s Markets specialty grocery store, and Hop N Cork. This neighborhood tap house rotates through 25 different kegs of beer on tap each week. A short drive west takes shoppers to Tigard, where they can shop for groceries and other household necessities at the local Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. Closer to home, folks can shop at Albertsons on Boone Ferry Road.A step away from downtown Portland
Driving northeast along Boones Ferry Road will take travelers to Interstate 5, where they can drive 10 miles north to downtown Portland. Locals are just minutes from downtown activities without the accompanying noise and bustling atmosphere.
