Royal Poinciana
Vintage cottages close to downtown Lake Worth Beach
Royal Poinciana trees can be found throughout the community, so between May and July, clusters of crimson flowers blossom against the usual green backdrop of palm trees and live oaks. The homes add pops of color, too. Vintage cottages and shotgun-style options flaunt bright pink, blue and orange exteriors on modest, densely set lots. Most were built in the 1940s and ‘50s, but some 1920s charmers remain. Prices for older, two- and three-bedroom properties fall between $250,000 and $550,000. The neighborhood also features various multifamily properties developed between the 1980s and early 2000s. Condo, duplex and triplex units typically range from around $150,000 to the high $300,000s.A speakeasy in Downtown Fort Worth Beach
El Pueblo Chapin Restaurant is a neighborhood favorite for its authentic Guatemalan cuisine. At Matthews Brewing Company, local musicians perform in the Beer Garden. Downtown, the speakeasy at Lilo’s Streetfood & Bar is easy to miss, but its Art Deco ambiance and signature cocktails make it hard to forget. As for day-to-day shopping, Publix and Supermercados El Bodegon are nearby. And while one might not think to look under an Interstate 95 overpass for fresh produce, that is precisely where The Lake Worth High School Flea Market takes place every weekend from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.Home to Lake Worth’s booming art scene
Royal Poinciana is home to much of Lake Worth Beach’s art scene, boasting several galleries and studios. Hatch 1121 is known as the “Great Wall of Artists” thanks to the gallery’s exterior mural. The Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts allows artists and amateurs alike to use its equipment while resident artists teach classes and workshops on glass blowing, welding and casting for all ages. In fact, it’s the largest glass-blowing hot shop in the state of Florida. “Every year, we bring in hundreds of students to experience working with hot glass for free,” Veres says. “We’ve had over 7,000 children pass through the doors over the last nine years.”Specialty programs at Lake Worth Community High
Lake Worth Beach is served by the School District of Palm Beach County. Barton Elementary and Lake Worth Community Middle are graded C on Niche. Lake Worth Community High earns a C-plus and is located right in the neighborhood. The school offers a variety of specialty programs. From criminal justice to culinary arts to biomedical science, each track is uniquely designed to help students get a head start on career planning.Camping at John Prince Park and suntanning at Lake Worth Beach
Royal Poinciana is surrounded by recreation. Near the high school, Harold Grimes Memorial Park has various sports amenities, including spacious soccer fields and tennis and basketball courts. Moving farther inland, Lake Osborne is just west of Interstate 95. On its shores is the 726-acre John Prince Park, a center for outdoorsy fun, from hiking on the Custard Apple Trail to camping by the water. Four-legged friends are also fans of the green space, thanks to its expansive dog runs. The beach is also less than 3 miles from Royal Poinciana, as is Lake Worth Beach Golf Club, so whether residents are looking to tee up or hit the waves, neither is too far away.
Right by Interstate 95
Royal Poinciana is bordered by two major roadways – Interstate 95 to the east and U.S. Route 1 to the west – making travel up and down Florida’s eastern coast convenient. The closest airport is Palm Beach International Airport, about 8 miles north. The nearest hospital, HCA Florida JFK Hospital, is about 3 miles away. Public transportation is provided by the county’s Palm Tran bus system.
