About Lakeside Park, KY

About Lakeside Park, KY

A Northern Kentucky city

Lakeside Park is small — in fact, this city stretches less than a square mile. Like many Northern Kentucky communities, this area is more closely connected to Ohio. “Lakeside Park is a bedroom community,” says Teresa Gillum, a Realtor at Keller Williams Realty who has experience in the city. “It’s considered a suburb of Cincinnati,” she adds. The main appeal of the community is convenience. Gillum categorizes it as a “supporting city,” one that mostly “feeds into Cincinnati.” The city center is only about a 7-mile drive away, which gives residents easy access to some of the Tri-State Area’s biggest employers and attractions. But folks here are also closer to plenty of recreational and retail spots. They will have to go outside of the city for most of these amenities as the community mainly consists of single-family homes, some of which are situated around the small lakes.

Cape Cods, Tudor Revivals and more

Lakeside Park’s housing stock mostly consists of 20th-century homes. These range from cozy Cape Cods to ranch-style residences to stately Colonial Revivals. The community is also home to a number of Tudor Revivals. These homes are typically situated on quarter-acre lots that sit along sloping streets lined with mature pin oaks. Some homes boast views of one of the city’s many lakes. Most of these properties feature either attached garages or long driveways that lead to detached garages. Prices typically range from about $200,000 to around $760,000. Prospective residents will find that some homes receive high Flood Factor Scores. Some residents also live in apartments.

Public and private schooling options

Children can enroll in Kenton County Public Schools, like Caywood Elementary, which boasts Imaginarium Club and Girls on the Run. They can then head to Turkey Foot Middle, where they can join an intramural sports team or participate in activities like Kindness Club. Afterward, most students attend Dixie Heights High, which offers dual credit enrollment opportunities with nearby institutions like Gateway Community and Technical College. All three schools receive B-plus ratings from Niche. Many students also attend Catholic schooling options like Blessed Sacrament School, a 2021 National Blue Ribbon Award recipient, which serves kindergarten through eighth-grade students.

Barleycorn's and more

For food out, locals can swing by Barleycorn's Five Mile House. It was once a toll house in the 1800s; now, it’s a sports bar that has become a staple in the community. Regulars come to enjoy American classics and happy hour specials. When the weather is nice, patrons dine on the patio. Gillum suggests checking out the adjacent Ft. Mitchell community for other options. Here, locals can grab groceries at Kroger or enjoy Italian flavors at Camporosso, a spot known for its wood-fired pizza. For shopping, folks can head to the nearby Crestview Hills Town Center, which is home to several chain establishments, a Trader Joe’s location and popular big-box retailers.

Nearby recreational spots

While there are no major recreational spots in the community, residents won’t be far from places like the Five Seasons Family Sports Club. Here, folks can take swim classes or challenge their friends to a tennis match. Lakeside Park is also near the Summit Hills Country Club, a popular spot for golfers. Those wanting to hit the greens can also check out Devou Park, which is less than 5 miles away. At this over 700-acre green space, golfers enjoy an 18-hole course, anglers try to catch fish at Prisoners Lake and mountain bikers head on trails that meander through rugged terrain. People often come to picnic at the park’s Memorial Overlook, which is known for its panoramic city views.

Light Up Lakeside and other events

The city hosts several events, including Light Up Lakeside, a December gathering held at Barleycorn’s. Here, locals can sip hot chocolate and enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides while children make festive crafts. Many of the community’s other events are held at the Lakeside Park City Building. In the past, the city has hosted everything from a euchre tournament to flower pot painting opportunities to bingo. The community is also home to five churches, so some residents will attend events at their house of worship.

A convenient location for commuters

Lakeside Park provides easy access to several major thoroughfares, including the Dixie Highway, Interstate 71 and Interstate 275. They can I-75 to downtown Cincinnati, which is less than a 7-mile drive away. This means that some of the Tri-State Area’s major employers, including Procter and Gable, are just a short drive away. Others may work closer to their community at employers like St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital or Thomas More University, both of which are less than a 3-mile drive away. Folks can take I-275 for about 7 miles to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. While most people drive, they can also take advantage of TANK's public bus routes.
