About 15 miles east of our nation’s capital, Seabrook is D.C./Baltimore commuter suburb with several single-family subdivisions just blocks from busy main roads full of retailers and restaurants.

Seabrook’s residential areas feature a variety of houses built in the mid-1900s, ranging from $350,000 to $500,000. Ranch-style and split-level homes are among the most common, but you’ll also find some Cape Cods and Colonial Revivals. They’re all lined up side by side on quarter-acre lots surrounded by plentiful greenery. Most streets also have sidewalks so you can walk your dog and enjoy peaceful strolls around the neighborhood. Seabrook is home to a few newer town house developments as well, with prices ranging from $500,000 to $575,000. Built in 2023, these four-story homes offer sleek modern interiors with rooftop patios where you can enjoy lounging over a cup of coffee in the morning and when you come home from work in the city.

D.C. commuters can conveniently hop on a MARC train from the Seabrook station, which can get you to Washington Union Station in about 20 minutes. If you work in Baltimore, the train will get you there in about 45 minutes.

The station is on Lanham Severn Road, which is lined with several retailers and restaurants. Many of them are located in small shopping centers, including Flor Blanca, a bakery that serves not only cake and donuts but also Hispanic dishes, like pupusas and tamales. When you’re in the mood for Southern comfort food like brisket and pulled pork, head to Supreme Barbeque, a popular D.C. chain. You’ll find more shopping and dining options on Annapolis Road at Enterprise Plaza. The shopping center features big retailers like ALDI and T.J. Maxx, along with a mix of national chain and local restaurants. That includes Teppanyaki Grill, a staple known for its Chinese buffet.

Seabrook has plenty of parks to choose from when you want to get outdoors. Visit Whitfield Community Park for a playground trip and to walk along shaded paved walkways. Kids have access to more playgrounds at Thomas Seabrook Neighborhood Park and Lanham Forest Recreation Center. The neighborhood park has tennis and basketball courts for the community to enjoy, while the rec center provides a deeper connection to nature with paved trails running through the woods.

Kindergarten through fifth-grade students may attend James McHenry, Catherine T. Reeds, Gaywood or Seabrook Elementary Schools, all of which have a C- grade from Niche. They all go on to Thomas Johnson Middle School, which has the same grade and then DuVal High School, rated a C. The high school is home to the school district’s rigorous four-year Aerospace Engineering & Aviation Technology Program, where students can participate in internships and dual enrollment programs at local community colleges and universities. According to Prince George’s County Public Schools, students in the program have a 100% college acceptance rate.

With convenient public transportation to D.C. and Baltimore, tons of shopping and dining options and several public parks, Seabrook has a lot to offer.
