The median single-family home price is roughly $160,000, which is above Lansing’s median but well below the national median. Prices range from about $60,000 to $180,000. “Most homes in that area do require updates,” Sira says. “Buyers are purchasing those homes, putting sweat equity in, and the values are going up.” Along West Jolly Road, there are multiple single-family houses from the 1940s, but most of the neighborhood consists of ranch styles and split-levels that were constructed during the 1970s.Sports at Benjamin F. Davis Park
“The atmosphere is great, partially because people have direct access to a park where neighborhood kids can meet up and play,” Sira says. On the community’s east side, Benjamin F. Davis Park’s amenities include a playground, basketball courts, a soccer field and softball fields. Lansing Pathway passes through the park and connects to the 13-mile-long Lansing River Trail, which links several green spaces throughout the city. Just southeast of the neighborhood, Alfreda Schmidt Community Center has a swimming pool, an athletic field, a basketball court and an auditorium.Magnet schools within the Lansing School District
Lansing has a school choice program, so parents can apply to send their children to magnet schools throughout the city. Some prekindergarten through eighth graders students attend Wexford Montessori Magnet School, while other pre-K through third graders attend Reo Elementary School before moving on to Attwood New Tech Magnet School up until sixth grade. All three schools have C-minus Niche ratings, and math and reading proficiencies are below state and national averages. The C-plus-rated Everett High School is a public magnet school that serves seventh through twelfth graders. According to Niche, the high school's math and reading proficiencies are below national averages.Rooting for the Michigan State Spartans

The nearby Michigan State football team faces off against other Big Ten Conference teams at Spartan Stadium, which holds around 75,000 fans.Commuting to downtown Lansing
E.W. Sparrow Hospital is about 15 minutes northeast of the neighborhood via Waverly Road and Interstate 496. Folks can access the rest of the city using public bus routes with stops along Waverly Road and Wexford Road. Capital Region International Airport is about 20 minutes north of the neighborhood via Waverly Road.Shopping and dining options within 10 minutes
Residents can walk to Elsa’s Chicken & Waffles, a friendly local spot on Wexford Heights’ northeast corner. A few blocks away, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard has a roastery called 517 Coffee Company and a local grocery store called La Frontera Mexican Products. Less than a 10-minute drive northeast of the neighborhood, a cluster of businesses includes a Kroger, a Walgreens and several fast-food chains.Walkable access to Lansing Church
Several houses of worship are located within the community. Lansing Church offers community focused programs like a youth ministry, computer classes and childcare programs.
