Leafy, low-key and diverse
"When people discover Larchmont, they find a low-key diverse community that’s easy to get to know,” says Realtor Mary Gail Barry with Compass. Barry has sold real estate in Larchmont for 15 years and partners with her daughter Dana Barry. The village has a Newcomers Club that sponsors social events and provides online resources to new residents, Barry says. “The waterfront has a beautiful park that is open to the public. This is a very walkable area, very important to people who come up from New York City. You can walk to the bay from anywhere in the village in minutes. We’re even on the Leatherstocking Trail, which takes you through beautiful Westchester County.”
Eclectic housing across wide price ranges
The homes in Larchmont are just as diverse and valued as the members of its community. “These are not cookie-cutter houses,” Barry says. “You’ll find every style in Larchmont, even new construction.” Single-family homes here are priced between $700,000 and $5.5 million and include well-maintained Tudors with hardwood floors and arched doorways that have had the same owner for half a decade, remodeled 1910 Victorians designed by well-known architects with views of Larchmont’s Estuary and classic clapboard Colonials remodeled and expanded for today’s lifestyle. There are also grand estates in an area known as Larchmont Manor with large wrap-around porches or distinctive architectural features, such as a double staircase, that hold historical significance to the neighborhood. Condominiums that are steps away from the Larchmont train station range in price from $100,000 to $475,000 and can feature many of the same amenities as homes, such as hardwood floors and working fireplaces.

Manor Park on Horseshoe Harbor offers beautiful waterfront views and access to the Horseshoe Harbor Yacht Club. Flint Park was made for activity, with athletic courts and fields and a large children’s playground. The nearby Larchmont Yacht Club, too, features a pool and sports facilities. “There are so many little parks with playgrounds that don’t appear on the map,” Barry says, “and places to launch your kayak or paddleboard.”
