Riviera Circle is an upscale, waterfront neighborhood in Larkspur where homes have private docks along Corte Madera Creek. This sought-after, North Bay community was built during the late 1960s and early 1970s and it features elegant midcentury homes. Residents enjoy views of the water on one side and forested mountaintops on the other. It’s also zoned for some of the best schools in the region, some of which are within walking distance. “It’s a wonderful neighborhood, and it’s very popular with families who want their kids to go to Larkspur schools,” says Realtor Garrett Burdick of Coldwell Banker Realty, who lives in neighboring San Rafael. “Once people get in there, they don’t want to leave.”

Elegant, upscale homes built in the 1960s and 70s
Riviera Circle, also known as Larkspur Marina, has 160 homes that sit either along a man-made lagoon at the center of the neighborhood or on the Corte Madera Creek, which wraps around the outer edge. All the homes facing the creek have their own docks, where residents can set sail along the water as it tumbles down to the San Pablo Bay. Architectural styles range from long, flat ranch homes to two-story Craftsman homes, many of which have been remodeled and renovated over the years. Prices range from $2 million to $4 million, putting it well above the Marin County median.

Piper Park and Mount Tamalpais
Outdoor recreation, relaxation and local parks are within walking — or boating — distance. “There are walking trails, beautiful parks and it’s pretty close to Mount Tam, which is one of the best spots for hiking and biking in Marin,” Burdick says. The neighborhood sits right next to Piper Park, a sprawling community space with tennis courts, ballfields, playgrounds, a community garden and an indoor recreation center. It’s one of the most active parks in the city, bringing together people of all ages who want to get outside. The neighborhood is also just a few minutes from some of Marin County’s best-known outdoor destinations, Mount Tamalpais and Baltimore Canyon Preserve. These vast open spaces are crisscrossed by hiking and biking trails with spectacular views of Bay Area scenery.

Walk or bike to Downtown Larkspur shops and restaurants
While there’s no shopping or dining within Riviera Circle, there’s plenty of it close by. Residents are less than 2 miles from The Village at Corte Madera and Town Center Corte Madera, both of which are outdoor shopping malls with upscale apparel shops, department stores, restaurants and grocers like Safeway and Trader Joe’s. Also nearby is Larkspur’s sleepy downtown district where locals will find cozy cafes, bakeries, pizzerias and boutique shops in a festive, small-town atmosphere. It’s also home to The Lark, an historic art deco movie theater.

Flooding is a risk for Riviera Circle
Because of Riviera Circle’s low-lying, waterfront locale, it is at a high risk for flooding. Homeowners may want to consider purchasing flood insurance.
