Townhouses and single-family homes are distinguished by low-maintenance yards, open floor plans and tile floors that stand up to the desert climate. Many houses include garages and off-street parking. Ranch styles, cottages and New Traditionals range between $200,000 and $400,000, with condos and townhouses listing around $120,000 and $250,000. Villa Borega, which is a 55 and older community with manufactured homes, is usually priced under $100,000.

Prospective primary schools include Lunt Robert Elementary School, Rundle Richard Elementary School, and Ira J. Earl Elementary School, all of which have a C-minus Niche rating. Area middle schools may be Duane D. Keller Middle School and Robinson Dell H. Middle School, both of which also score a C-minus. Rancho High School has a B, and is a magnet school with programs in pre-medicine and Private Pilot, and Aerospace Engineering. Las Vegas High School rates a C-plus, and Eldorado High School has a C-minus.

Community events in East Las Vegas

East Las Vegas Community Center hosts annual events for every age group. Popular events include the Caribbean Heritage Festival, the Margaritaworld Festival and the Rebfest Arts & Music Festival. Each event features live music and dance and food vendors. In December, bring children to the Winter Wonderland Festival at the East Las Vegas Community Center for a chance to meet Santa.

Navigating around Las Vegas

The Regional Transportation Commission bus system serves East Las Vegas and includes multiple stops along the major throughfares bounding the neighborhood, including North Eastern and East Owens Avenues and Charleston and Nellis Boulevards. Harry Reid International Airport is about 9 miles away, and those heading to Los Angeles may take Interstate 15. MountainView Hospital is approximately 13 miles west via U.S. Route 95.
