Residential community a short drive from the Vegas Strip
Twin Lakes is an established pocket neighborhood close to public transportation and with easy access to the Las Vegas Strip via Interstate 95. The community is an attractive option for homebuyers looking for modest, older homes in a quiet, convenient location. “This is a pretty mellow community and has the feel of older Vegas,” says Realtor Bryce Davis of RE/MAX Legacy. Davis has lived and sold homes in the area for over four years.

Ranch-style homes comprise this established Vegas community
Twin Lakes housing mainly comprises ranch-style and mid-century modern homes from the 1950s, ‘60s and ’70s. Most homes feature low-pitched roofs with two-car garages on small, quarter-acre lots. A lot of the houses in the area have at least three bedrooms with square footage anywhere between 1,200 and 2,500. Most properties in Twin Lakes have an in-ground pool in their backyards that offset small patios. Housing prices commonly fall between $250,000 and $500,000. Condo options include Laguna Shores and The Greens, both gated communities with amenities like pools, tennis courts and garages. Many streets have sidewalks and a few mature palm trees, among other drought-resistant vegetation.

Shopping at Meadows Mall
Locals commonly head to Meadows Mall to enjoy a day of shopping. The mall features nationally recognized retailers, like JCPenney, Dillard’s and Foot Locker. Attached to the mall is Round 1 Bowling and Entertainment. At Round 1, locals enjoy bowling, arcade games, karaoke, ping pong, darts, and food under one roof. Cardenas Market is next to the mall in the Loma Vista Shopping Center, where residents often grab groceries. The Walmart Supercenter on West Lake Mead Boulevard offers an additional grocery and retail option. And if locals wish to gamble without heading into the heart of Vegas, Wildfire Rancho offers slots and video poker games within a mile.

Locals fish the twin lakes or race at Ed Fountain Park
Twin Lakes residents can choose from several parks for outdoor fun. Ed Fountain Park features baseball, soccer and football fields, plus a basketball court and playground. Its BMX racecourse attracts competitive cyclists. At the centerpiece of Lorenzi Park are the two lakes for which the neighborhood is named. This park, which opened in 1926 with a pool, dance pavilion, lakes and orchards, is a designated historic district. The lakes are popular for fishing. Visitors also enjoy the ballfields, tennis courts, children’s play area and Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza, an outdoor theater on the park’s west side. Las Vegas Golf Club is an 18-hole public course suitable for all skill levels. After a round, locals relax and refuel at the clubhouse’s bar and grill.

Hopping on the RTC
“You’re only a 10 to 15-minute drive to the strip,” Davis says. The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, or RTC, serves the Twin Lakes area. Though bus stops scatter the community, locals commonly drive to get around. Interstate 95 runs along the community’s border, and drivers often use the highway to get around Vegas. The heart of the Vegas Strip is about 10 miles from the community. When residents need to access a hospital, Valley Hospital Medical Center is 2 miles away. North Las Vegas Airport is 3 miles away.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
