Homes in Lathrup Village typically range from $250,000 to $700,000. “The prices for the houses went up and a lot more than I thought they would,” says Renee Unger, a Realtor with Real Estate One. “But still the houses sell really fast.”

Education also is important to Lathrup Village residents. According to Niche, the best elementary, middle and high schools in the area are MacIntyre Elementary School, Alice M. Birney School and Southfield High School for the Arts & Technology. Approximately two acres in size, Annie Lathrup Park has a 1/4-mile walking/jogging asphalt pathway, with a large center grassy area, two outdoor skating rinks with benches and trash cans. And at Lathrup Village Dog Park, the village’s four-legged residents get to frolic outside and enjoy events such as Bark in the Park. “You see a lot of walkers and a lot of dog walkers,” says Unger.
Southfield restaurants offer soul food, pancakes and gyros
For foodies, Lathrup Village is surrounded by all of the delectable food options in Southfield. Southfield has a diverse culinary scene, with various restaurants offering a wide range of cuisines. Some popular dining spots include Cornbread Restaurant and Bar for soul food and the Original House of Pancakes (not IHOP) which stays busy and often comes with a wait, especially on weekend mornings. Diners love the huge German pancakes and the made-to-order omelets.
When it comes to shopping, Lathrup Village is in Southfield and there's easy access to the Southfield Plaza, which has several retail stores like Citi Trends, Big Lots and Burlington as well as a Boston Market restaurant and a Party City. Otherwise, Twelve Oaks Mall and the Somerset Collection are a short drive away. The area has numerous grocery stores and shopping centers to cater to residents' needs. Some popular options for groceries include Meijer, Kroger and Trader Joe's.
