One of the main draws to The Villages, Central Florida’s premiere 55-plus master planned community, is how easy it is for residents to stay active thanks to the many amenities. I can get anywhere in a golf cart: dinner, doctor’s appointments, and things like that. We’re in the middle of everything.”

Garages are standard, and most offer room for golf carts, the primary method of transportation for most Villagers. Prices typically range from the low $300,000s to the low $500,000s. Prices jump into the $700,000s and $800,000s for houses with views of Havana Country Club Golf Course and for those sitting on larger lots around the neighborhood’s many cul-de-sacs. Because the homes in Hadley are older, many come with their bonds paid off. Bonds are fees that The Villages places on new houses that can run anywhere from $20,000 to $100,000 and can be paid in full at closing or in monthly installments.

The Villages charges an annual activities fee, which grants residents access to all the recreation centers and golf courses in the community. Hadley residents looking to golf close to home can choose from Havana Country Club Golf Course, located just outside the neighborhood, or Roosevelt Executive Golf Course, which offers nine holes and is about 2 miles away. Odell Recreation Center is located in the neighborhood and offers pickleball and tennis courts, bocce, and a family pool, which is open to Villagers and their guests 30 years old and older. Colony Cottage Recreation Center is also located in the neighborhood and offers a sports pool, popular for residents who like water aerobics, a walking path and basketball courts.

The Havana Country Club restaurant is a short golf cart ride from the neighborhood and a popular spot for lunch or dinner. Menu items include salads, sandwiches, steaks and seafood. The neighboring Colony Plaza shopping center has national chain restaurants like Bob Evans and McDonald's, as well as the locally owned Mezza Luna, which serves authentic Neapolitan-style Italian dishes. Colony Plaza also offers Publix, Walgreens and several medical offices. For more shopping and dining, Lake Sumter Landing, one of The Villages’ bustling town squares, is about 3 miles away. Lake Sumter Landing is a walkable outdoor mall offering specialty boutiques and casual sit-down restaurants serving American, Italian and Japanese cuisine.
