Wynstone
Suburban Neighborhood in Lewis Center, Ohio
Delaware County 43035
Modern homes built in the 90s
Surrounded by young maple and oak trees, the homes of Wynstone follow the gently curving streets in long rows of Colonial Revivals and Contemporary Craftsmen. Houses often have less than 20 feet between them, though fenced-in yards and strategically placed foliage provide some privacy. Lots are rarely more than a fifth of an acre, with sidewalks cutting between the front yard and the curb. Two-car garages are standard, as are fireplaces and basements. Prices range from the low $300,000s to the mid-$400,000s, depending on size. Working railroad tracks stretch past the neighborhood’s west side, though residents insist they’re not a noise factor.Top-ranked public schools
Students begin at Oak Creek Elementary School before attending Orange Middle School, both of which have an A on Niche. Older students will enroll at Orange High School, which also has an A and is known for its marching band, which frequently competes on a national scale. All schools are a part of the Olentangy Schools districts, which rates an A-plus from Niche, which lists it as one of the top 10 school districts in Ohio. “One of the biggest draws is the award-winning school district,” says Joshi. “Everybody wants to be a part of Olentangy schools.”Creative soul food dishes at CJ's
CJ’s Soul Food offers a modern take on classic southern dishes, with fried green tomatoes, barbecue platters and the Soul Roll: an egg roll filled with macaroni and cheese, candied yams and collard greens. Taranto’s is a family-owned pizzeria that’s featured homemade dough and hand-mixed sauce since it opened in 2000. In addition to its signature pizzas, wings and salads, it also serves the Tarantasaurus, a 29-inch pizza that stands out as one of the largest in central Ohio. Wynstone’s eastern border is adjacent to Polaris Fashion Place, a shopping mall with over 200 stores and restaurants like Barnes & Noble and Macy’s. Satellite stores, including Kroger and several fast-food options, surround the mall.Miles of trails at Highbanks Metro Park
At over 1,200 acres, Highbanks Metro Park is one of the largest public facilities in the Columbus region, located 2 miles west of the neighborhood. Hikers of every skill level can test themselves on nearly 14 miles of trails, including paved multi-use walkways and gravel paths that cut through long stretches of woodlands. Anglers are fond of fishing in the Olentangy River, and nature lovers can visit a restored wetland at the park’s eastern border. Though much smaller at just over 2 acres, Wynstone Park’s central location is convenient for families looking for a playground or picnic shelter.Access to Columbus on the Polaris Parkway
The Polaris Parkway cuts through the neighborhood’s northeastern corner, connecting to Interstate 71 and providing a direct route to Clintonville and Columbus, some 16 miles south. Columbus is also home to John Glenn Columbus International Airport, providing flights across the country. Though the Central Ohio Transit Authority bus lines do not reach Wynstone, there are stops nearby at Polaris Fashion Place. Sidewalks connect homes within the neighborhood, and a path runs alongside to the busy route of South Old State Road. Mount Carmel St. Ann's Emergency Room is a nearby 24-hour emergency care center, just under 6 miles away.Live music at the Flint Station Festival
The nearby town of Orange celebrates several seasonal events, including an annual Winter Market and a regular series of live performances from local and regional bands and artists. Every summer, Flint is host to the Flint Station Festival, a one-day celebration with live music, food trucks and local vendors.Important to know
The CAP Crime Index gives the neighborhood a six out of 10, compared to the national average of four out of 10. Some non-violent crimes rank higher.
