Numbers reflect demand and growth around Southern Hills
Southern Hills is a 3-square-mile suburban neighborhood about 6 miles south of Downtown Lincoln. Its closest neighbors are Porter Ridge, one-half mile south and Williamsburg Village to the east. Southern Hills looks like a quiet South Lincoln suburban neighborhood. And it is. But what buyers can’t see right away is what captures their attention soon enough.
Within a 5-mile radius, homebuyers will find impressive features: 15 highly rated public and private schools, 12 city of Lincoln parks, 10 grocery stores, three golf courses, two wildlife management areas and one brand new casino. Saul Bakewell, Realtor with Nebraska Realty for over 10 years explains, “Lincoln offers so many advantages to home buyers, and each area is distinctive from the next. South Lincoln is defined by steady growth and expansion over the past 20 years. But it has picked up speed recently with Williamsburg Village, some new public schools and the new casino. This growth has brought first-time homebuyers and fans of midcentury homes to Southern Hills. So, many houses in the neighborhood are getting updated and renovated, which increases their value, and that of the overall neighborhood.”
