A community outside Marysville
Linda sits south of Marysville. The small, unincorporated community is home to a little over 20,000 residents. While it’s a separate entity from Marysville, which is about 3 miles north on the other side of the Yuba River, Linda is served by Marysville’s school systems, and many residents head into town for shopping and dining as well as work. Linda a quiet, laid-back area popular for buyers looking for one of northern California’s more affordable areas.

Most homes in Linda are modest, practical and functional. Ranch-style and Modern Traditional floorplans are common. Single-family homes sell for a median price of $425,000, which is comparable to the national median. However, it is about $5,000 less than the median for Yuba City and much less than the median in Sacramento, 40 miles south. “It’s a very affordable area,” says Steve McCarthy, Realtor with eXp Realty and former resident. Prices range from $250,000 to $550,000, depending on the size of the home and its yard.

Kids attend Marysville schools
Kids living in Linda are served by the Marysville Joint Unified School District. Niche gives the district, which serves approximately 10,000 students across 23 schools, an overall grade of B-minus. Students can apply to Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts, which gets an A. For secondary education, students can enroll in Yuba College, the local community college.

Three community parks in Linda
Within Linda, residents have access to three parks: Friendship, Fernwood and POW/MIA Park, known locally as Edgewater Park. All three offer playgrounds and public greenspace. At Friendship Park, visitors can practice skating tricks on the park’s ramps. Fernwood Park offers basketball courts and a large recreational grass field. POW/MIA Park is home to baseball diamonds, a spray park for hot summer days and outdoor fitness equipment.

Residents head to Marysville and Yuba City for shopping and dining
Most residents travel to Marysville or Yuba City to dine out or do major shopping. However, there are a handful of casual restaurants in Linda. A Walmart Super Center and Costco operate off the highway. Other grocery stores, like Foodmaxx are in town.

Highway access and commutability to Beale Air Force Base from Linda
“It’s the closest community to Beale Air Force Base, which is a major employment center nearby,” says McCarthy. The base is 14 miles east via North Beale Road. Most Linda residents drive. State Route 70 runs through Linda and 3 miles northwest to Marysville. Yuba City is a little farther northwest, at 5 miles away. Sacramento, home to the nearest commercial airport and another major employment hub, is 40 miles south. Yuba-Sutter Transit does offer routes into Yuba City and around Yuba and Sutter counties. McCarthy says many residents purchase bus passes.
Residents head to Yuba City and Marysville for events
While Linda does not host public events, residents can easily travel to Marysville or Yuba City for them. Yuba City’s annual Nagar Kirtan Sikh Festival draws crowds of 100,000 or more for the multi-day event. The Marysville Bok Kai parade has been held each spring for 145 years. In addition to fireworks and live entertainment, festivalgoers can explore vendors and a car show. MMX Racing is a popular 20-acre dirt track facility between Linda and Marysville. Participants race motorcycles, dirt bikes and other off-road vehicles on courses and equipment designed for those 7 years old and up.
