Welcome to Walton Heights, a riverside retreat representing the pinnacle of West Little Rock living. Find sprawling midcentury estates overlooking the stunning Arkansas River Valley. Proximity to this waterway means residents are always close to acres of scenic green space. But despite the neighborhood’s forested feel, it’s also centrally located near an esteemed shopping center and the city’s core.

Walton Heights' winding, steep streets are brimming with three-to-four-bedroom ranch styles on half-acre lots. The dwellings can have midcentury elements like sloping asymmetrical roofs or towering neoclassical columns. You’ll also notice a few split levels with wood siding and brick-façade Colonial Revivals. To live in Walton Heights, expect to pay anywhere between $300,000 and $700,000, a range higher than a Little Rock home’s average $150,000 selling price. “There are some upscale houses here, and that’s why prices can climb higher,” says Christy Robinson, Realtor for Keller Williams Realty. “But it’s slightly more affordable than surrounding neighborhoods like Robinwood or Foxcroft, where houses can sell for over $1 million.

Children in Walton Heights attend Don Roberts Elementary. In addition to its A-minus grade on Niche, it is also the newest school in the Little Rock School District. After fifth grade, students go to Pinnacle View Middle, where school spirit is showcased with the annual pink-out girls’ volleyball game. Lastly, students attend Little Rock Central High. The school’s 1927 Art Deco-style building is often deemed one of the most beautiful schools in America. Besides a stunning setting, the school offers a rigorous curriculum with 36 AP courses on subjects like economics and five foreign languages, including Mandarin Chinese.

With the neighborhood’s riverway views come recreational hubs equally impressive, like the mile-and-a-half trail at Conner Park. As you walk the boardwalk pathway and nature trail, you’ll pass mature shortleaf pine trees towering over a glittering fishing lake stocked with largemouth bass and walleye. Bikers will especially love the 10-mile rocky route stretching across the River Mountain Park. The green spaces' location along Little Maumelle River also offers stunning waterside views and a kayak launch. Find more activity less than 3 miles away at Pleasant Valley Country Club. Members can use the 27-hole championship golf course, 12 tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool and the state-of-the-art fitness center.

Thanks to the Pleasant Ridge Town Center, residents are mere minutes from a restaurant and retail mecca. “It’s a really nice shopping center, and everyone in the city knows it,” says Robinson. Start your morning with a refreshing peppermint pattie-flavored iced coffee from The Grind or devour the handmade chicken dumplings from Three Fold. Browse the apparel and home furniture at Belk, buy a new bike from Spokes or get new running shoes at Fleet Feet. You can also stock up on groceries at The Fresh Market or the nearby Kroger. Walton Heights is also located along Interstate 430, and a quick 11-mile drive east on the thoroughfare leads to bustling Downtown Little Rock.

With beautiful homes, nature and commercial options abound, Walton Heights combines lavish living, a secluded setting and ample convenience.
