Curved, tree-lined streets, impeccably landscaped lawns and spacious contemporary homes surround a small neighborhood park in Dunsmuir. This compact community is situated in the southeastern edge of Livermore where it meets the rolling green hills of the East Bay countryside. Outside of the city limit, rows of suburban homes give way to idyllic vineyards that belong to the area’s acclaimed wineries. “It’s a beautiful neighborhood with newer, larger homes surrounded by vineyards and some of the city’s top wineries,” says Realtor Nicole Nicolay of Compass Realty, a longtime resident and community activist in Livermore. “It’s very established, with a high price point.”

The neighborhood surrounds Bruno Canziani Neighborhood Park, which spans 15 acres of open space. Located on the site of a former vineyard, it’s now home to a large playground, grassy meadows and a sprawling dog park. “A lot of kids like to hang out at this park. There are a lot of young families in the neighborhood,” Nicolay says. Dunsmuir is well-placed for outdoor adventuring. It sits at the edge of the pastoral East Bay countryside, just a few miles from hiking and biking in the Mount Diablo foothills and boating and fishing at Lake De Valle.

Dunsmuir is about 2 miles from Livermore’s up-and-coming downtown district, which has seen a resurgence in recent years with new restaurants, shops and cultural festivals. The last four years are spent at A-minus-rated Livermore High School, a former winner of the prestigious California Distinguished Schools award. In 2022, the school opened a brand-new gym and aquatics facility for its well-regarded athletic programs.

Getting around the East Bay and beyond
Interstate 580, a major East Bay highway, is about 3 miles north of Dunsmuir. It takes drivers across the East Bay to major cities like Oakland and San Francisco.
