Loch Lomond is a Manassas area suburb close to parks and I-66
Loch Lomond is a modest suburban enclave in Prince William County, sandwiched between the popular Bull Run Regional Park to the north and Old Town Manassas , an up-and-coming shopping and dining district to the south. “No matter where you live in Manassas, you’re probably no more than two to three miles away from parks, community centers and other recreational facilities,” says Steven Angeline, a real estate agent with Samson Properties with seven years of experience serving Northern Virginia. The community is also close to Interstate 66, a major commuter road for workers around Washington , D.C., just over 30 miles away.
Classic suburban home styles around the community
The community’s narrow suburban roads are lined with raised ranches, Craftsman-style homes, ramblers and townhouses. Homes are priced from $350,000 to $840,000, depending on square footage, lot size and age. “It provides a great area to get out of the renting game and get into homeownership,” says Angeline. Average home values here are significantly lower than the Washington. D.C., metro area, and more than 80% of residents in Loch Lomond own their own home.
Locals can browse Old Town Manassas, Sudley Road and Manassas Mall
Sudley Road is a major commercial corridor south of Loch Lomond, lined with grocery stores like Sprouts Farmers Market, Aldi and Global Food. Manassas Mall is south of Sudley Road and features over 80 retailers, including Walmart, Macy’s and Floor & Décor. Old Town Manassas has become a popular destination for locals, with several new breweries, restaurants and boutiques, all three miles south of the community. Crossroads Tabletop Tavern is in Old Town and offers burgers, pub grub and craft cocktails, while Doug’s Deli and Taproom serves sandwiches and draft beer.
Specialty programs offered at Osbourn Park High School
Prince William County Public Schools serves Loch Lomond and earns an A-minus rating from Niche, which ranks it as the third most diverse school district in Virginia. Students can attend Loch Lomond Elementary School and Parkside Middle, which both have B-minus ratings. Osbourn Park High School gets an A and offers specialty programs with courses in biomedical sciences, practical nursing and Navy JROTC. The community is only four miles from George Mason University’s Science and Technology Campus, with STEM courses, labs and resources.
Festivals take place regularly around Manassas
The International Food Festival, which takes place several times a year on the grounds of the Manassas Museum, features live music and food vendors covering cuisines from around the globe. The town also hosts the annual Manassas Railway Festival, which celebrates the town’s railroad history with a train excursion from Manassas to Clifton .
Many activities are popular at Bull Run Regional Park
The massive Bull Run Regional Park is west of Loch Lomond. It has forested hiking trails, campgrounds, ball fields and Manassas National Battlefield, a historic Civil War site, where visitors can take guided tours with park rangers. Atlantis Waterpark is also a popular summer attraction at Bull Run Park, with several pools and waterslides. Fairmont Park is a community green space to the south, with softball fields and a playground. For live music, folks can head eight miles west to Jiffy Lube Live, a large outdoor amphitheater in Bristow , that regularly holds concerts from nationally touring artists.
Commuters take I-66 to Washington
Commuters can take Interstate 66 to Washington, D.C., a 30-mile drive that usually takes under an hour, depending on traffic. Dulles International Airport is 15 miles north. The nearest hospital is UVA Health Prince William Medical Center along Sudley Road, just south of the community. Locals can also catch OmniRide buses, which stop along Sudley Road, for public access around Prince William County.
