Wide-ranging housing options in affordable Paramount
The neighborhood has retail on its northern side, while the rest of Paramount is residential. There's quite a variety of home styles to fit most people’s demands, including single-family homes, condos, manufactured homes and apartments. Located in Paramount’s northeast section, the single-family homes are primarily midcentury ranch-style homes and bungalows. They sit on smaller lots, but these have enough space for front yards with garden beds and backyards roomy enough for small patios. Some of the larger homes have driveways, but many residents park on the street. Ranch-style homes range from $700,000 to $800,000. Condos are on the neighborhood's western side, with prices ranging from $300,000 for a one-bedroom to $500,000 for a three-bedroom. The Ackerfield Condominiums subdivision boasts amenities like a gated entrance and a community pool. The Friendly Village Mobile Home Park, in Paramount’s southeast corner, has manufactured homes with prices ranging from $150,000 to $200,000. Neighborhood X is more affordable than other communities in this area, as its median price is about $200k less than the surrounding neighborhoodsWell-rated Long Beach Unified public schools with student support
Holmes Elementary School has a B-plus rating on Niche. Hoover Middle School has a B, while Lakewood High School has an A-minus. All three schools offer Student Support Sources: resources for homelessness, bullying, mental health and more. Students from Lakewood High have gotten full rides to prestigious universities like Yale and Columbia, and it offers academic pathways that allow each student to focus their education on subjects that interest them. The Davenport Park project and more recreation
Davenport Park is a spacious park of about 12 acres, located on the neighborhood’s eastern side on East 55th Street. Named after Corporal Ed "Pops" Davenport, a longtime Long Beach police officer, the park is undergoing drastic renovations. The project broke ground in 2023 and will be finished by the end of 2024. Residents can soon expect a multipurpose sports field, fitness equipment and a picnic area shaded by trees. There will also be a paved walking path and expanded parking options. About half a mile from Paramount, Biscailuz Park has a picnic pavilion and a playground. It also has sports facilities, including basketball courts and a ballfield.A 5-mile commute to downtown Long Beach and access to Long Beach Transit
Paramount is about 5 miles north of downtown Long Beach via Long Beach Boulevard. The neighborhood is also close to Interstate 710 for commutes to Los Angeles. If residents want to take public transportation, they can catch a Long Beach Transit bus at multiple stops on Paramount Boulevard and South Street. For medical services, residents can go to UCI Health — Lakewood, about a mile away. The closest major airport is Long Beach Airport, only about 5 miles south of the neighborhood.Shops and casual restaurants in Paramount Plaza and on South Street
Located at the northern end of Paramount, Paramount Plaza has shopping and a few restaurants. The Dollar Zone sells beauty and cleaning products. At CK Donuts, locals can order breakfast sandwiches, smoothies and donuts. Los Tres Pollos #3, ideal for quick and casual meals, has been serving Mexican classics in north Long Beach since 2008. Directly east of the neighborhood in Lakewood, South Street has plenty of stores and restaurants, including Sizzling Wok. This Thai restaurant serves noodle boats in a vintage-style interior, with checkerboard floors and a chalkboard displaying menu items. For groceries, there’s a Walmart and a WinCo Foods.
