Manhasset Hills
Suburban Neighborhood in Long Island, New York
Suffolk County 11040, 11042

Single-family homes from $800,000
The neighborhood’s streets are lined with trees and sidewalks, and its homes are often built on bigger lots than in Queens or New York City, says Ali. This allows homes to be set back from the street and provides homeowners with front and back yards where they can entertain and let their children or pets play. Homes in the split-level and ranch styles range from $800,000 to $1.3 million. Custom-built homes or homes with unique styles range from $1.4 million to $1.8 million.Swim lessons at Clinton G. Martin Park
Ridder’s Pond Park has a large, circular pond that sits at the edge of the community, surrounded by trees and walking trails. Nearby is a colorful jungle gym for children to play on. In summer, residents spend their time at Clinton G. Martin Park. The park has a 50-yard pool with a diving board, kiddie pool, slide and snack bar. The area also offers swimming lessons and outdoor amenities such as a playground, hardtop basketball, and tennis courts. Residents also travel to nearby beaches such as Bar Beach and Jones Beach State Park. “Jones Beach is a premiere beach,” says Phil Raices, a broker with Turn Key Real Estate. The white-sand beach is a popular Long Island summer watering hole with an annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration and a boardwalk. Residents should be aware though, that no pets are allowed on the beach.Art classes at Herricks High
Manhasset Hills is served by Herrick’s Union Free School District, which has an A-plus rating from Niche and is rated among the top 15 best school districts in New York. Children attend Denton Avenue School and Herricks Middle School. Students advance to Herricks High School. All three schools receive an A-plus rating. Herricks High School has an art department that offers media and graphic arts courses, including digital photography and advertising design and computer graphics.Floral Park Street Festival attracts thousands
Over 5,000 visitors attend the Floral Park Street Festival at Floral Park each June for local vendors and live bands. The nearby Great Neck Library offers Dungeons & Dragons for fifth and sixth graders, family movie nights and other events throughout the year. Long Island Growers Market LLC, a group of vendors who sell their products at local farmers markets, hosts the New Hyde Park Farmers Market starting at 7 a.m. and continuing until 1 p.m. every Friday from June to November. Residents wanting to attend religious services may visit Shelter Rock Islamic Center, Notre Dame Church, Shelter Rock Jewish Center and other local houses of worship.Commuting from New Hyde Park train station and I-495
Locals may walk to work and nearby amenities, but the neighborhood is primarily car-dependent. “A lot of doctors buy houses right by the hospital so they can walk to work,” says Raices. Residents can travel to New York City in about an hour from the New Hyde Park train station. Bus stops line Hillside Avenue for public transportation. New Hyde Park Road and the Union Turnpike run through the area, and Northern State Parkway and Interstate 495 border the community. The John F. Kennedy International Airport is 12 miles away.Shopping and dining in Manhasset Hills
In Williston Park, 3 miles away, Hildebrandt’s, an ice cream shop and American diner built in 1927, serves as a time capsule. “Hildebrandt’s is all retro stuff, all original stuff,” says Raices. “They have handmade ice cream. People bring their kids to show them where they went when they were kids.” Bobb Howard’s General Store & Auto Repair carries old-fashioned candies and colorful items. “They even have an old-fashioned candy at a converted gas station on Lakeville Road. “Stuff from the 40s, 50s and 60s. That is the place if you want to find old-fashioned candies.” Along New Hyde Park Road is a small shopping complex where residents may purchase groceries at ShopRite of New Hyde Park or find discount home goods at T.J. Maxx. Nearby is the Lake Success Shopping Center, a strip mall with a Target and popular chain restaurants. For more extensive shopping complexes, residents head into Manhasset to shop at Americana Manhasset shopping mall.
