Strolling through Lake Sacajawea Park
Lake Sacajawea Park is Longview’s main hub for outdoor recreation, which centers around the long, narrow lake that spans several neighborhoods. Olympic East encompasses the north end of the lake and the tranquil Japanese Gardens, an island with gravel walking paths winding past manicured shrubs and Japanese maple trees. As joggers, dog walkers and cyclists make their way around the park’s 3.5-mile loop, they may spot wildlife like ducks, chipmunks or deer. The manmade lake is stocked with trout, and anglers might also catch bluegill or largemouth bass. The park hosts kids’ fishing competitions every year along with summer concerts and Fourth of July fireworks.
