Single-family homes and multifamily investment properties in South Lowell
Though the majority of South Lowell housing consists of multifamily options, there are a few single-family residences as well. Many of the condos date back to the late 1900s, and the townhouses tend to be a little newer. Units generally range in price from $250,000 to $500,000. There are also a few early 1900s Colonial Revivals and Queen Annes that have been converted into multifamily dwellings. These often appeal to first-time homebuyers who can rent out a portion to subsidize their mortgage costs, explains Fermin. “It allows them to establish income.” These multifamily-converted homes sometimes list between $600,000 and $650,000. With a good mix of Colonial Revivals, Cape Cods and ranch-style houses, South Lowell also has some possibilities for buyers looking for a little more privacy. Homes often rest on grassy lots behind medium-height fences or hedges, and some include driveways for off-street parking. Pricing for single-family residences might fall between $350,000 and $550,000. Commuter rail trains pass through the community between Epping and Stratham streets. Though trees along the tracks provide a small buffer, the noise of passing trains may be disruptive to residents.Views of the Concord River from Muldoon Park
There are a few small green spaces in South Lowell, including Muldoon Park, which rests beside the Concord River, and Donahue Field, which has a small playground. Just north of the community is Shedd Park, a 50-acre expanse filled with assorted playgrounds and sports fields, as well as a spray park. The pavilion here hosts concerts — from the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra, for example — and can be reserved by locals for private events. The Concord River itself also provides an opportunity for waterside outdoor time. Several of Lowell’s youth sports teams play at the Cawley Memorial Stadium, which is around 2 miles from the community.Lowell High School students practice real-world skills

A B-rated Lowell High School, the dedicated culinary arts department gives students the opportunity to run their own restaurant. The business department also provides hands-on training — students can gain experience by working in the high school’s two retail stores. There are several Lowell Regional Transit Authority bus stops in the neighborhood and a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority commuter rail station approximately 2 miles northwest.
