Loyalsock comes from the Native American phrase “Lawi-Saquick,” which roughly translates to “middle creek.” Loyalsock Township lives up to this name as it sits between the winding waters of Lycoming and Loyalsock Creeks, just north of the city of Williamsport. Shopping centers, chain restaurants and local eateries line Loyalsock Township’s segment of East 3rd Street, which passes through the town’s southern half and is known as the Golden Strip. People from across town can head to the Loyal Plaza to run errands at Giant, Rite Aid and Hobby Lobby. The dining scene ranges from fast-casual chains like Olive Garden and Texas Roadhouse to family owned favorites such as Dolly’s Diner and Mr. Sticky’s, a local institution serving homemade sticky buns with cream cheese and peanut butter icing.

The market invites residents to shop local each summer, with vendors selling everything from fresh produce to artisanal goods. The community also gets together for festivities like the Annual Sally Short's Holiday in the Park event, a winter celebration that includes a tree lighting, wagon rides and an appearance from Santa Claus.
