Inner Loop central Lubbock neighborhood in transition
Five miles south of downtown Lubbock, the central Lubbock neighborhood of Bayless-Atkins is home to a robust parks system and well-regarded local schools and borders 50th Street and Loop 289, two of Lubbock's most important thoroughfares. Named after Bayless Elementary School and Atkins Middle School, Justin Lowrey, a Realtor with The Whisenhunt Team at Keller Williams Realty, says the inner Loop neighborhood was traditionally a friendly middle-class community with moderately priced homes. The neighborhood has transitioned as the decades have passed, with opportunities becoming available for investors and first-time homebuyers. "It was a great spot when I was a kid. We're starting to see a lot of the homes go into rental homes, and we've seen the transition," Lowrey says.
