The largest of seven hills, College Hill, borders downtown Lynchburg and houses some of the oldest homes in the city. “If you love old houses, College Hill is a great place to live,” says Susan Murray, Realtor with eXp Realty and resident. “And has some of the oldest houses in town.” Federal Hill, a small historic district within the community, features the area's oldest and most stylistically diverse homes. "I just sold a house in Federal Hill," says Murray. "It was originally a plantation and Federal Hill grew up around it." Merchants and civic leaders lived in the historic district, which developed slowly from there, allowing for various housing styles. The area has Victorian Foursquares and large, red-brick colonials next to white-trimmed Queen Annes.
