Aerial Lynchburg
A well-liked suburb in Lynchburg
Linkhorne is located smack dab in the middle of Lynchburg, making it a very central neighborhood. It’s comparable to Boonsboro, says Martin Donovan, 30-year Lynchburg Realtor with Lauren Bell Real Estate. “Linkhorne is known as a good place to live, but it has friendlier prices compared to surrounding areas,” he says. The suburb has two schools named after the neighborhood, Linkhorne Elementary and Middle School. “Families are attracted here because of the bigger homes and schools,” says Aaliya Robertson, a Lynchburg resident who grew up in the city and resides here. “It’s a nice little area.” Linkhorne sits near major employers in the city, such as the University of Lynchburg, Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital and Randolph College. Commuters use U.S. Route 501 or Old Forest Road to reach work. “Old Forest Road has no stoplights, so people use that to get around quickly and avoid traffic,” Robertson says.

The middle school offers summer programs for students, offered by the local YMCA. Kids may advance to E.C. Glass High School, which has a well-regarded football program and earns a B-plus from Niche. People interested in the private school pathway can attend New Covenant Schools—which earns an A-minus from Niche —just two miles away. The University of Lynchburg sits right outside Linkhorne. Liberty University is 7 miles away and is home to Thomas Road Baptist Church, a popular place of worship that has over 20,000 members.
