As part of Lynnwood’s city center, Scriber Lake has shopping and dining options. Lynnwood Center is a shopping mall at the intersection of Pacific Highway and 196th Street. Retailers include Trader Joe’s, Ace Hardware and Dollar Tree. Pacific Highway continues south with more shops, restaurants and car dealerships along the way. Super Toratas Ganzin specializes in traditional Mexican cuisine, while the Best of Chengdu serves Chinese-American cuisine. Lynnwood Crossroads is another center with fast-food eateries like Five Guys and MOD Pizza. Additional retail, such as Best Buy, and restaurant chains, like Olive Garden, are over a mile east of the neighborhood on 196th Street. Scriber Lake is pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly, with wide sidewalks and designated bike lanes. Puget Sound Transit bus stops are dotted along Pacific Highway and both 196th and 200th streets. The Lynnwood City Center light rail station is less than a mile east of the neighborhood. “The recent addition of the Lynnwood Transit Center and parking garage is a significant draw for the neighborhood. It enhances connectivity to the Greater Seattle area, making commuting convenient,” Korn says. Washington state Route 99 travels north to south and goes downtown. It can also take drivers to Swedish Edmonds Medical Center, about 2 miles south. The Seattle Paine Field International Airport is roughly 7 miles away for commercial flights.Single- and multi-family housing options
There is a diverse range of housing styles in Scriber Lake. “The variety helps with different preferences and budget levels, making the area accessible to first-time homebuyers and those looking to upscale,” Korn says. Minimal traditional single-story homes are common east of 56th Avenue W. These houses were built between the 1950s and 1960s, span 800 to 1,400 square feet and cost between $550,000 and $750,000. Ranch-style homes built between the 1960s and 1980s are larger and go for $725,000 to $875,000. Most of these single-family homes sit on decent-sized lots with decorative front lawns and driveways.West of 56th Avenue, closer to the Pacific Highway, are attached townhouses with traditional architecture and tucked-in garages. Prices fall around $550,000 to $825,000 for a multi-story unit. Contemporary condos range from $250,000 to $550,00 for 750 to 1,400 square feet, depending on the number of bedrooms. Numerous apartment complexes in the area are also available for rent.While there isn’t an overarching homeowners association, residents will still hold events, including seasonal celebrations, garage sales and activities at Scriber Lake Park. “These events foster a sense of community and provide opportunities for neighbors to connect and engage,” Korn says.Education in Edmonds public schools
Children living in Scriber Lake are zoned for public schools in the Edmonds School District, which offers a handful of choice schools and programs for students. There are two possible pipelines, depending on where they live in the neighborhood. College Place Elementary School earns a C-plus grade from Niche and feeds into College Place Middle, which receives a B. There’s also the C-graded Cedar Valley Elementary School and Alderwood Middle, which has a B-minus. Scriber Lake Park is the neighborhood’s namesake recreational area. The lake is a natural refuge with a floating boardwalk. Walking trails surround Scriber Lake, with benches scattered along the pathways. Additionally, Sprague’s Pond Mini Park, on 200th Street, has a small playground area, picnic tables and barbecue grills. Ducks and geese flock to the pond year-round. Both green spaces have seen renovations and new constructions, which are slated for completion in the summer of 2025.Lynnwood Bowl & Skate doubles up as a bowling alley and roller-skating rink. The Lynnwood Recreation Center, less than 2 miles from the neighborhood, has an indoor pool with a fitness studio, water slides and both sports programs and summer camps.
