A small Ohio village with a sense of community
About 13 miles south of Canton, Waynesburg stands on the edge of rural land, alongside similar enclaves within daily-commuting reach of the larger city center yet offering something not possible in a landscape of concrete and asphalt. “It’s one of those towns for people who don’t want to live in Canton itself,” says Realtor Nicholas Rock of Keller Williams Legacy Group Realty of the 1,000 population neighborhood between Magnolia and Minerva, themselves communities of similar size. “It has a strong sense of community,” says Rock. “It has a Main Street USA-type feel.''

Large ranch-styles for lower prices
A handful of interconnected residential streets connect to Lisbon Street, a thoroughfare. Quarter- to half-acre lots showcase classic ranch-style homes, typically just shy of 2,000 square feet each. Homes sell for between $85,000 and $275,000. Depending on the block, some homes include stoops, front porches and small front yards. Others open directly to the sidewalk. On the outskirts, land opens up with more space between and in front of homes.

A day at Whiteacre Greer Equestrian Park
Because of its near-rural location, there are many spots to get outdoors in Waynesburg. Sandy Creek flows along the community’s north side, where amateur anglers fish for largemouth bass. The Sandy Valley Trail touches this creek at various points, winding through the woods. Waynesburg residents can also drive a mile and a half south to the Whiteacre Greer Equestrian Park. Although designed for horseback riding, casual walkers and joggers are also welcome.

Centrally located, locally owned restaurants
Everything in Waynesburg is close by, especially restaurants. Waynesburg Grill and Hooch’s Bar are two casual joints that share a street corner at the community’s center. Folks can go a bit farther down Lisbon Street to reach West End Pizza or Cibo’s Restaurant, an Italian spot with an older, rustic feel. There is a post office within blocks of these restaurants, but the nearest grocery store is 11 miles (or 15 minutes) away in Canton.
