Condos and multi-family homes in New England styles
Homebuyers will find a mix of single-family homes and condominium units throughout Piscataquog, and the neighborhood is considered more affordable than downtown Manchester. Single-family homes are considered more uncommon and consist mainly of pointed Workers Cottages with little front porches and modest two-story floorplans. Costing between $300,000 and $400,000, most homes have small yards and access to major roadways and close neighbors. The Bass Island Estates community off Hancock Street has an assortment of apartment-style condo units. Though they may not have balconies, these small condos are relatively affordable when compared to other areas in the city. One or two bedrooms can cost between $100,000 and $200,000. There are also a few dozen multi-family properties, including duplexes and some much large buildings that can fit four or more apartments inside. These buildings can cost between $400,000 and over $1 million for those investors looking to rent units to tenants.
Manchester Dog Park and the Piscataquog River Park Bike Path
Students benefit from Manchester West High School’s football field, track field and tennis courts. Across the street is the West Manchester Branch Library which, though it has less books than its counterpart closer to downtown, offers a quiet place to read or study. Down the road is Sweeney Park, a small green space across from the 7-Eleven with an open field, a playground and a basketball court. The Piscataquog River Park Bike Path is just around the corner from Sweeney Park and takes bikers and pedestrians across the water and into the city via the Hands Across the Merrimack Footbridge.Residents can take their four-legged friends to Manchester Dog Park on Bass Island, where they can get some off-leash exercise in the 10,000-square-foot enclosed area. Crossing Second Street will take outdoor seekers to Bass Island Park, where they can stroll under the shade of tall aspens or launch their canoe or kayak for a drift along the Piscataquog River.
West Manchester public school programs and achievements

Downtown Manchester is a 1-mile and five-minute drive away by heading east on either Granite Street or Main Street. Locals can access the city’s popular bars and restaurants, visit large parks and sports stadiums, bowl at Yankee Lanes or head about 6 miles south to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport for weekends away. The nearest hospitals are Catholic Medical Center, which is less than 1 mile north on Main Street, and Elliot Hospital, which is about a 2-mile drive east via Granite Street.Locally owned restaurants and fast access to downtown Manchester
Though downtown Manchester isn’t too far away, there are also a few spots on South Main Street that locals can enjoy. Classic Biryani Kabab and Curry is a popular place for ordering authentic Indian cuisine. For Greek and Italian fusion dishes, folks can grab a table at Giorgio’s Ristorante & Bar on Granite Street. Familiar chain restaurants like Dunkin’ and Subway are just down the road from Elite Pizza. Market Basket is just across the river, and the north end of the neighborhood is home to the Parkside Community Garden. Members can rent out seasonal plot space to try out their green thumbs, and volunteers use the garden’s empty lots to grow food to donate to local businesses and shelters.Community gatherings and local support from Workmen's Club and Hall
Hidden in the neighborhood is a longtime community staple called the Workmen's Club & Hall. "I’ve worked here almost 40 years as a manager at Workmen’s. It’s the oldest club in the state, founded in 1883,” says Donna Staples, a board of director’s member at Workmen’s. “The bar itself is a private, member-owned facility that you have to be sponsored by another member to join. We also rent it out to the community for weddings, baby showers and birthdays, and to members. We also donate the hall for events like Mercy Meals when someone in a member’s family passes.” The bar also works to help the Piscataquog community by raising funds and getting residents involved. "We do shows for the community to raise money. For example, we raised almost $25,000 for Webster House, which was matched by donations. During the Iraq and Iran war, we raised supplies for the troops, held toy drives, and Christmas parties for kids,” Staples says.
