The Manhattan-Ogden Unified School District serves the residents of Candlewood. Students can begin their education at Frank V. Bergman Elementary, which scored an A-minus on Niche. They continue their education at Susan B. Anthony Middle, also rated A-minus, and Manhattan High, rated A. Manhattan High offers dual enrollment with Manhattan Area Technical College, which has specific courses that transfer to Kansas State University. Located about 2.5 miles southeast of the neighborhood, Kansas State offers more than 250 undergraduate programs and more than 165 graduate degrees and certificates.

CiCo Park and the Hudson Nature Trail
Bordering the neighborhood to the south is 97-acre CiCo Park, with a skate park, sledding hill and dog park. CiCo is also home to Lud Fiser Youth Sports Complex, Manhattan High’s Bishop Stadium and the meeting space at Pottorf Hall. Hosted in the park every July, the Riley County Fair includes farm animal exhibits, the WEEE Entertainment Carnival and the Kaw Valley PRCA Rodeo. The 2-mile Hudson Nature Trail runs north to south, bordering the neighborhood to the west. “People are active here,” says Plattner.
The dog park at Cico Park is perfect on hot days and has water available for everyone.
Biking, walking, and skating are common at Coffman Commons.

Kansas Route 113 borders the neighborhood to the east, providing access to downtown Manhattan about 5 miles southeast of Candlewood. “The subdivision is just off of the major street running all the way West to East through Manhattan,” says Barb Meitler, a Realtor with Platinum Realty. “It is also a close commute to Ft. Riley for our military soldiers and employees of Ft. Riley.” Fort Riley is about 16 miles southwest of the neighborhood. The ATA Bus stops at several points along Candlewood Drive, with routes to Aggieville and the Kansas State campus. The Manhattan Regional Airport is 7 miles southwest of Candlewood.
