A nature-filled enclave near the city

Named for the small park at its center and the sprawling fairways of the golf course to its west, Stagg Hill offers nature views and outdoor fun while still keeping close to the city action. “It's just a great location — a nice neighborhood with nice people,” says Carolyn Hill, a local resident and Realtor with Coldwell Banker Real Estate Advisors. “They have neighborhood picnics and potlucks.” Located off Fort Riley Boulevard, residents have easy access to Kansas State University and Fort Riley, both major employers. Another draw is the Manhattan-Ogden Unified School District No. 383, offering a range of highly rated schools.

A little farther out, the Stagg Hill Golf Club is an 18-hole regulation course open for public play. Locally-owned dining spots

Though most dining and retail can be found 2.5 miles northeast in Downtown Manhattan, Stagg Hill is home to a few restaurants of its own. El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant is a popular spot for margaritas, casual Mexican food and daily lunch specials. El Tapatio also has a bar and patio seating. North of the neighborhood is Sparks Burger, a locally-owned and locally-sourced fast-food joint. This restaurant serves all the greasy spoon classics while also providing a few unique creations of its own, like the hot dog burger. For shopping, there’s a Target on Commons Place about a mile north of the neighborhood.
