City amenities with a small-town feel

Named for the gathering spot at its core, Franklin Rogers Park lies a mile-and-a-half east of Old Town, the beating heart of Mankato. “I think it's one of the hubs of southern Minnesota, but it still has a small-town feel,” says Michelle Starkey, Realtor with True Real Estate. Surrounded by green spaces, outdoor fun is never too far. Bordering the community to the south, Madison Avenue offers an array of restaurants and shops, giving the suburban neighborhood a lively feel while offering the amenities of a more urban community.

Fun at Franklin Rogers Park

At the heart of the community is Franklin Rogers Park, best known for ISG Field, a baseball stadium with a capacity of 4,000. This neighborhood staple is the home of the Mankato Moondogs of the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball organization. The park is also a hub for the Mankato Area Youth Baseball Association. About a mile-and-a-half northwest of the community is Tourtellotte Park, featuring a playground, baseball fields, pickleball courts, a sand volleyball pit and a swimming pool, which is both open to the public and available for private rental. In the fall of 2023, a massive $9 million renovation project began, which included refurbishment of the existing swimming pool and diving well along with a new 21-foot-high water slide. “It’s been a hit,” says Starkey. “All throughout the summer, you’ll see groups of neighborhood kids walking over.”
